It is usually the only open part of the field for them to run towards.

If they ran towards the middle they would be tackled by their own team. So they run to the side and jump up and down and stuff.
 
Set pieces are going to make the difference.

We have a HUGE size advantage over them. We need to keep pushing for corners and sooner or later we'll get one in the goal.

Heh, I saw that video yesterday. I love the fist pumps. Someone could probably make a .gif out of that and start a meme.

edit: Near the beginning of the video you hear the crowd cheer when that player that faked the injury ran back on the field and got booked by the official.
