How does allowing heat to escape from that mesh design an advantage in terms of speed in the first place? Maybe if it was long distance it would have mattered to the athlete's endurance a small iota. I play hockey and even with all the gear on I have never felt too hot in it... it's an ice rink. So they sweat... is that really going to build up so much that it matters?

Elsewhere, the report suggests that the team shouldn't have trained at high altitude and outdoors in Italy ahead of the Games. Sochi's skating was indoors and at sea level, and it's thought that the altitude conditions masked a dip in form which would have otherwise been spotted. Also: those damn suits. sure they do. but equipment matters when dealing with times of a split second.

training and equipment play a huge part if those parts are off it be bad. I was rather surprised to find they never tested the suits and got them just before the Olympics.
