It seems to me that you are one of those people who think everyone in the military simply follows orders and will do so blindly. Talk to some veterans who have been there rather than college professors who have never had any experience off a college campus, I think you'll find people who are much more developed overall and who have given more to society and our great nation than the people who seem to think they are above everyone else and try to warp young minds into their way of thinking.
I have talked to many of my uncles, cousins, and friends of the family that were in the war. And, they all told me it is a sad time, and it was a sad time for me as well.
The best story is was from my 2 uncles (brothers), one were drafted to fight for the north side & the other were drafted to fight for the south.
My father were against the war & was put to hard labour camp for 4.5 years, while his sister husband also were against the war and were put in jail by the south for 20 years & the north for 12 years.
