Yes, ancient Sith lords were powerful enough to move stars with the force or destroy a planet. However Sith lords had a slight tendency to backstab one another.

And of course the US army could kill Sauron's army, it's called modern firearms. Or hell, you could just do what the current US army does and cluster bomb civilian populations because there's a slight possibility that anti-american troops are in the area (in other words what the Army does in Iraq).

you really have no idea what we're doing there, do you?

Finding the WMD's? Oh wait...

You go, Calvin!

Actually, I'd just tell the cows from the Chick Fil A commercials that Sauron had bought Chick Fil A and was planning to serve burgers.
They'd trample his army.

This is just wrong, I can't believe the US is doing that! Why aren't they using nukes instead? You know, you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet. 🙂

And yes, the US army would slap around Sauron's army, ring or not.

Woohoo, US army going to kick some butt 🙂

Of course we would. However, Sauron did not posess the ring. If he had, kiss your butt goodbye.

He didnt seem to kick to much ass when he had the ring, ooo, he can toss a couple of elfs and men threw the air, woop di doo. And he created the fvcking thing so why doesnt he just make another?

The men in those days were superior to us. Also remember there are other powers aiding the cause of good, which may have guided the blade of Isildur. Alone, men were lost.

Sauron could not make another ring. He imparted a significant part of himself into it. It would be like you cutting off both legs, and someone saying that you should grow two more.

Oh, an as far as the Sith and their planet destroying ways? I wonder if they would do so well against a lesser Ainur (the Maiar, such as Gandalf and Sauron really are). Of course if they didn't fare well, then I expect the Valar to intercede, and that would be that.

With unlimited ammunition, I would take 400 US soldiers and a few M1s over Sauron's army. I don't think the orcs have any tactics to deal with RPGs and 50 cal machine guns.

You would be suprise how fast a few ten thousands can orcs and trolls can over ran those 400 US soldiers. Once in the melee range, those soldiers will be cut down in no time.
