True but what would you people be doing if those guards were let go only to later find out they were Al-Queda operatives or were helping Iraqi leaders escape? You'd be screaming bloody hell. "Bush let em go - he didn't even check them out" Boo Frickin Hoo. You people whine no matter what happens.

CkG

If they were in Syria then "Boo.........." awh... shucks .... Don't you care at all about international law?

Only if someone other than the US violates it, it would seem.

There must be some point at which supporters of the Conservative Agenda will say... 'yeah... that was going too far' Perhaps they are locked into a 'till death do we part' position... I don't know.. but, to be labeled a Liberal because I question action that I feel is wrong or a violation of law indicates to me that the label maker is going to go to any end or means to defend 'their side'. How do they know I'm not on 'their side' but, won't do away with the rule of law for any reason... Perhaps they wish for dictatorial powers like in '33...

No No No my puddle leaving freinds, IF it is shown that we deliberately crossed the border to attack then your panty soiling would be justified(maybe;) ) but if we attacked and the fighting spread across the border then you don't have a case. We can and will pursue people across borders when engaged. There is no magic "safe line".
This whole issue is really just pure speculatory arm flailing from the left trying to gain an issue for which to bash Bush on.

Please clean up after yourselves...there are paper towels in the kitchen.:)

CkG

Oh, and LunyRay - you post like a Liberal;) not only on this issue but rather almost everything you post. You can admit it - it isn't THAT bad being a Liberal - but I suppose the constant diaper rash and bloodied/broken noses must get old after a while :D;)

Cadesigner,
I think, therefore, apparently I am neither a Liberal nor a Conservative...

I am a registered 'publican... but, am a social liberal and fiscal conservative according to my wants and desires. I registered as a republican because my wife made me.:)

The information I've read stated the convoy was inside Syria.. when the shooting started.. there are no "Hot pursuit" rules that I know of. Invasion of another nations air or ground space get folks shot down... Remember Airliner shot down in asia awhile back.. KALXXX.?

" He declined to say how the Syrians had been wounded or whether American troops crossed into Syrian territory during the attack. Administration officials have said at least one vehicle destroyed in the raid was on the Syrian side of the border."
from the post at the beginning of this thread.

"US officials said it was not clear if the fighting had strayed over into Syrian territory during the attack near the desert border post of Abu Kamal." from the BBC link.

Now tell me - can you difinitively say that we "crossed" the border to attack? no. Is there a line in the sand there?(I really don't know;) ) Fighting along the border is not an "invasion" or anywhere near that. If there were orders to deliberately cross the border I will conceed the arguement but if fighting "strayed" over it - you have no case expecially since it seemed to be confined to a small area near the border.

Not only that but who really lets people into their country when they are being chased by firing helicopter and other military units. ESPECIALLY if its the USA.

Oh My... Humpty Dumpty don't recognize any border let alone the Syrian border. Humpty Dumpty showed some cracks as he proceeded onto the Syrian side of the border now Uncle CAD and all the Bush horsemen seek to glue Humpty Dumpty together again.. As well as the Syrian Border Guards we shot because they may have been doing their job and maybe not... Get more glue .... the cracks are multiplying... :)

Of course, one could take the view that since the US invasion of Iraq is illegal, then they (the US) can do whatever the heck the want and still be on the same moral level.

One hope legal equates to moral... We are in Iraq because Moonbeam gave Bush permission to do so.
