I just received my 512MB of Crucial PC2100 today. I'll post results when I get my motherboard and processor - hopefully sometime around the end of July 😀

<< CAMS,

If you want things that run just up to their specs, buy a refurbished Mobo with a refurbished CPU on it 😉

I once returned a Celeron that wouldn't overclock more than 25%.

Having worked on a space station as well as in an underground government lab, I know what to expect of things 🙂

I wasn't being sarcastic, I was serious!

<< basically the clock multiplier is at 1400/133 = 10.5, and it doesn't really POST if I run RAM at anything above 145 MHz >>

So you're trying 145*10.5=1522.5 ? Sounds to me like it has nothing to do with the ram... What kind of cooling do you have?

Dude this is bunk. I cant top 133 cas2 with either stick. My mobo is an epox8k7a. I think I will try 1 more stick o crucial before I try a diff mobo. Grrrr.

My proc is goin great (1 @ 1.42 GHz without a godo fan yet) but my ram is sucking it up.

I say crucial is OK ram, but on the low end.
Much better ram is out there, you get what you pay for with Crucial
Fact is, 1 out of 5 ram sticks are not quality made, it's the luck of the draw unless you buy tested ram.
I prefer Mushkin or Corsiar over crucial
Just my opinion

<<Much better ram is out there, you get what you pay for with Crucial>>

I simply cannot agree. Everyone knows Sony isnt the only one that can make good monitors. Sometimes "you get what you pay for" doesnt apply at all. Crucial has the best quality in the industry, better than Corsair and Mushkin, by far. Just because they're cheap doesnt mean that they're crap. And just because they aren't rated for overclocking doesnt mean that they dont get the job done.

"Brand name" should mean very little in the computer and electronics business. Sony TV's are rated low for both quality and reliability (Consumer Digest), yet cost more than any other TV. Why?..

A small company could make a better computer case or a cooling device than a brand name..

Remember that little company Tseng Labs that made killer 3d videocards? (Well, I'm kidding here. They sucked, and so did Trident and S3 at the time 🙂 )

Can't believe so many people are dissing Crucial. Crucial is basically the sales division of Micron. YES MICRON, THE COMPANY THAT MAKES MEMORY CHIPS THAT EVERYONE ELSE USES IN THEIR DDR MEMORY. Also I think Crucial's price can't be beat 🙂

I second that.

I just sent a DDR Stick to a guy who just told me it has no problem running 165MHz+ 🙂 He's evaluating it for me.

Good news, looks like.

Update: He just emailed me again and now running it at 175MHz @ CAS2! Crazy... looks like I will have a new product soon. 🙂
