I ordered a holster and my dad ordered a book. the holster was a little over $50 and the book was about $25.

UPS tried to deliver yesterday but they didn't leave the packages on the doorstep when no one was home like they used to. we live in a rural area thats back about 100 yards from the road and surrounded by forest.

tracking info said they couldn't deliver because they couldn't get a signature.
i don't know about the company i bought the holster from, but my dad called the company he ordered from and they said they didn't tell UPS they needed a signature, so it's not because of the company he bought from.

Hmm, here they just drop the frigging package on the porch, knock once quickly, and then sprint back to their truck.

They're changing policy in general... They wont even allow their drivers to make left turns soon.

I don't want to hear it. I just shipped a package via DHL to Berlin, Germany. I spent an hour on the website getting the right docs in order.

Seriously. They are like delivery ninjas - you never know they were there

I continue to say that DHL is one of the worst delivery companies I have ever had to work with. FOr work I have to ship warrenty parts through FedEx, DHL and UPS depending on the manufacturer. DHL is the only company to have ever lost items - not to mention losing our companies paychekcs 4 times in the last 2 years

it has been my personal experience that the more expensive the contents of my package, the more likely UPS is to just drop it and run

My experience is that if the truck is running late they'll drop it and run.

maybe you need to sign cause it's a holster?

i have no idea why that would be the case. it's just a holster. its about as deadly as a shoe.

also, why would they need a signature for a book?

I would imagine that you bought the holster from a place that also sells firearms. They probably have a blanket policy about requiring signatures.

nope, they just sell holsters and belts.
i've ordered stuff (no guns, but gun related products) from places that did sell guns and never required a signature.

I don't have anything to support this, but the impression I get is that it's up to the driver.

Some shippers require a signature. It's obvious what's going to happen in this case. It just happened to me yesterday.

After years and years of Newegg shipments being dropped on the porch, (sometimes multiple boxes) I was suddenly required to sign in person. The old driver would just leave them. I called UPS and they said it was at the shippers request. I called Newegg and they said it was UPS and that they never required a signature on UPS deliveries.

I had Newegg contact UPS and get them straightened out. My new driver no longer wants a signature on Newegg deliveries.

99% of our packages are from Newegg, so that is to whom I can relate my experiences.

Fedex had my signature on file and would leave on the porch.

Recently I had my wife's office address added to my CC file with the issuing bank. I now have Newegg deliveries sent to my wife's office. It's a great solution for me. If the UPS guy wants to get a wild hair up his butt, it's not going to affect me.

Thats what they do to me. I HATE IT!
Once they even dropped it off at the wrong house and then gave me shit when I tried to call and get some sort of resolution.

I really didn't want this to turn into a UPS bashing thread but I guess it's impossible to mention UPS and not have them be bashed on ATOT? lol

I just shipped two packages (via sales off of FS/FT) with UPS. Did the shipment online where you can specify that a signature is not required. Looks like the company you made the purchase from has a signature required default for their account.

I shipped a package out on Dec 15 to Logitech as an RMA. 3 weeks later (today), it shows up at my doorstep much worse for the wear. WTF?

Oh and he left it at the doorstep without even knocking. I wouldn't have known it was here except my dog barked at him.
