I have

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W

in my stock light housing.

It doesn't blind others, that's why I posted that it doesn't blind... Haven't had anyone bright me thinking my brights are on and I've met my truck driving the other way on the highway at night, not blinding.

If you are wearing double eye patches and take them off right as you are meeting my truck at night it might be blinding...

I wish to disagree...

real HID projector retrofit into stock housing ftw. i plan on putting s2k projectors / HIDs in my Si when time and money permit.

should look something like this:

OK, so after doing more research I see there are halogen projectors as well as HID projectors. Can anyone explain what the difference is (other than one is designed for halogens and the other HID)?

Be careful, they switch to 9000+ mode when the VTEC kicks in, y0.

Seriously though, most would get the most benefit adapting a true HID projector to their housings.

My 98 240SX has pretty advanced lighting even today.

I am on the fence now of moving to a E36 M3 or Honda Element SC...two dogs and a short 4 mile commute each day. Sort of swaying to the Element.

I'd do it right and retrofit oem projectors off a car that had real HID's.

Some of those might work because they MAY have the cutoff shield... but most of those aren't designed for D2S bulb

You may melt the reflector bowls on cheap projector headlights with HID bulbs.

I don't have $400-500 to do it myself :'( And in the end not even have the guarantee they will work

Try and see if you can fine GE Nighthawk/Philips HIR X-Treme/Osram Nightbreaker halogen bulbs. They're actually a lot brighter than standard bulbs and last just about as long.

I gotta agree here. If you, the OP, cannot find a decent HID retrofit system with proper projector style housings, then any of the mentioned halogen bulbs will work.

I originally replaced the H1 style bulbs in my housings with whatever Osram was selling at the time three or so years ago. There is a noticeable difference between them and regular halogens found at any auto-parts store. Of course halogen lighting really does pale in comparison to HIDs, but if you can't do those correctly a higher quality standard bulb is also a good option.

The better bulbs last a long time, but not as well as 'stock'.

Narva is another company with good stuff.

Just use my links in my above post...

Alright. At the sake of looking like a ricer, I'm just gonna go with some crystal clear halogen headlights. I'll try one of those bulb recommendations above.

I had HID in one of my old cars (halogen replacement) I hated it. I sold that crap and went back to stock.

Glare sucks, and the vision at night is no better, as your lens is not changing.

Here's a fun exercise to try:

1) Park your truck on a level surface
2) Stand 20-30 feet in front of your truck, facing your headlights
3) Without changing the angle of your head relative to the ground, lower your head so that your head is at the height of that of a driver in an average car
4) Stare at a point about 4 feet to the right of your truck (the truck's left side) for 10 seconds without blinking

If it doesn't get annoying, then congrats, your lights are OK (but not necessarily legal).

I'd also love to see a picture of the light pattern from his HIDs on a wall. I can pretty much guarantee it's scattered everywhere.
