Sorry, I was under the impression that you wanted the best performance for your money. If you just want to buy something because it looks/sounds cool, then go ahead.

Thank You!
The only other place i know my husband and I bought from before is Multiwave I believe. Are they cheaper? I guess it really doesn't matter where I buy from as long as their trustworthy, I'd just rather buy it all from the same place though.

AMD fatality is $219 if you NEED to have it.
You could get a A64 3500+ with it and still get better gaming performance than with the 630.
Add a gig of corsait pc3200 ram
and you're ready to go.
The powersupply in your sonata should be fine for all this.

agreed. but i personally think the fatality motherboards are a waste. you can get a good socket 939 board with the same chipset for $100 less. 😱

Are you asking what A64 would be about the same speed as the 630 you were going to get?

That's what I've gathered from the reviews too, but it sounds like having "Fatality" (or whatever, there's a 1 in there somewhere) is needed in here or the kid wont be happy.

Yes, well sort of....I guess something comparable in price and the faster the better I guess.
As for the other remarks by you and the other person, well, I can tell you this much. As I said, Mike sets up systems at the tracks for NASCAR. I know JGR (who he works for) is sponsered by Intel and I believe all of NASCAR is so I would guess that is why he chose them.

well, again, an AMD system for the same price will be much faster. just let him know that. if he still refuses for some reason, theres not much else to say. some people are very unopen to considering an AMD rig for some reason...
here are some more in depth gaming benchmarks

I'm IM'ing him on his phone in Atlanta. As long as their not busy he should get back to me quickly. I don't care one way or another really....I just can't see the big deal.

Newegg, and Zip Zoom Fly are some really good places to shop.
I like to link to newegg usually because they seem to have the best descriptions, pictures, reviews, and navigation.
You'll be able to use your DDR1 in the AMD system. Do you know what speed it is? pc2700? pc3200?
There are AGP boards for AMD too, so you don't need to worry about that. Let me find one for you...

We have our systems speced so I can find what they have easily. The memory now is the Corsair XMS Low latency 2-2-2-5 PC 4200
Would it be wiser though to go ahead and get a PCI X board now?

That ram will be fine for A64. Do you have a gig of it or 512?
If you already have a 6800gt, I'd say just stick with AGP. You can easily get a PCIe motherboard in the future when you want a new videocard.
What Abit motherboard are you talking about?

I'm pretty sure you can select RAID or non-RAID for the sata connectors on these boards in BIOS.
What on earth are you going to use dual GB network on your son's gaming rig?
