They seem to have the best prices on bundles.
Got great rating

$749 for an i7 5930K and ASrock X99 Extreme3 is reasonable in terms of price. However, assuming their pictures are even remotely accurate, their standard cooler is extremely low quality and will be very hot and loud on a 140W chip. You have to step up to the $119 "Liquid Cooling Package" to get something recognizable, at which point you're paying well above market.

If you really wanted to swap your guts (not that I think it's necessary), you would be better off doing the following:

i7 5930K $580
ASRock X99 Extreme3 $155 AR
Noctua NH-U14S $70
Total: $805 AR

I think he is still looking for suggestions with a RAM kit. He'll need a suggestion for a DDR4 kit.

Now that's something you don't hear people say often. Not saying you're wrong...

This Asrock X58 Extreme board for 99$ has been fantastic the past 5yrs. Even supported the Xeon Westmere without any hardware mod. EDIT: and the thing can reach a 220 BCLK fairly easy.

I just had assume that I could save a lot of $$ by buying a Bundle. I buy from new egg but their bundles seem more expensive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=5930k+bundle&N=-1&isNodeId=1 so I did not bother pricing individual components.

Yes I was concerned about the cooler so I am glad you brought this up. Looks like I will be OC so I hope the Noctua NH-U14S has enough cooling power. Hard to pass up by BTRY B 529th FA BN to help me OC.

Yes I will need recommendation for DDR4 RAM. 16 GB at 2x8 so I have room for additional RAM if ever needed.

I built two computers both with Gigabyte motherboards. Yes I can change brands. I questioned Asrock, but BTRY B 529th FA BN swears by them. So this isn’t to an issue. What might be one is that the PSU has the correct for lack of a better term thingies. CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready has enough Wattage.

I am excited to move on this direction. It is a good compromise and hope the added performance can be appreciated by not waiting as long for Photoshop to render. Would you venture to say that the 950 vs 5930K is about 3 times faster?

If you stick with your X58 system and you want more ram then you'll need DDR3, if you go with a 6 core Haswell E then you'll need a DDR4 kit. Just so we are clear.

Also I'm not sure how much you are relying on me with the overclocking help. You'd need the chip first, and even though I have mine I haven't installed it yet and I am considering installing a custom loop along for it and I am in the middle of putting parts together before the install...

I'll be glad to help you out but are you waiting on me first before you make your decision? EDIT: i'm just confused on what you are buying. I didn't see you make a clear choice. I'm assuming you are going with Haswell E, right?

Also why are you going with the 5930K? Do you need a lot of PCI-Express lanes?

Yes you or someone else had made it clear earlier about the DDR4 RAM

Yes when the time comes if you have time or others here I hope they can help me to OC.

Get the 5820K and save $275? Or what other suggestion do you have?

PCI for the Video Card and possible Audio card. Waveterminal 192X http://www.esi-audio.com/products/wt192x/ . It is PCI. Is it compatible with PCIe? I have the Presonus FireBox (firewire) for audio but to add the PCI card may help me do some additional Audio stuff.

Still would be nice to have an idea of what performance boost I will get with the 5930K or 5820K over my current 950.

Ok. So you haven't made a decision. Thought you were leaning towards Haswell E.

Ok, I will swap out chips and see how to overclock this W3690

Can you list all the devices that will plug into either a PCI slot or PCI-Express slot? I could of swore you had a GTX 470 but I thought it might have been a PCIe card... please list them.

I know we were talking about OCing the 3690. But from what I understand even the 5930K or the 5820K should be OCed. Is this so? I know I was resistant to OC but now if it is simple enough I may just try it.

Knowing my PCI requirements should I get the 5930K or the 5820K or XX? The audio and video cards are PCI or PCIe.

Yes I am now leaning towards the Haswell-E 5930K or the 5820K but would still would be nice to have an idea of what performance boost I will get with the 5930K or 5820K over my current 950.

Firewire and an Ethernet card. Both cards are Conventional PCI. The Etherent card I suppose will not be needed.

GPU: EVGA 012-P3-1470-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support

I couldn't tell you simply from my experience because I don't run the apps you run. I think the best thing is to find out on your own.

Good Luck

Time schedule for my music/Photoshop computer
1. Wait for Windows 10 to be released. July 29?
2. Check out the reviews, do and don’ts, drivers, tutorials etc.
3. About 1 to 2 weeks after W10 release purchase components
4. Upgrade processer only or processor/motherboard/ram the current Windows 7 computer
5. If have Windows registration problems then seek to get the upgraded computer Windows 7 reauthorized.
6. A couple of days later convert Windows 7 to Windows 10.
7. Hope I then have a Windows 10 iso to do a proper fresh install of W10

Not a wide variety, but there is a 950 to 5930K comparison:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/100?vs=1316
Thanks for the benchmark chart!!!

Compared the 990x and the 5930k
I read that the 990x is the same as W3690
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/444?vs=1316
I do not see any reason to spend $900 to upgrade to the 5930K.
I will get the W3690 for about $190 and OC.

Sorry for the back and forth on the processor. My personal processor has been giving me a headache so when I rebooted overnight I woke up with the final decision. W3960 ra ra ra!

In order to be able to tell you that, you need to fire up your software and do a bunch of processor intensive tasks and then report to us what your cpu usage % is. Or better yet, post a graph. As a general rule, if cpu usage is at 100% for long periods of time, then yes an upgrade would do you well. But if its only 12-25% then an upgrade isnt going to help.

I plan to intensify my music creation and Photoshop work. When using Photoshop I sometimes have to wait a minute or a few minutes and at times much longer. I will just take my chances with upgrading using the W3690 and then OC.

I also got the W3690 for $175. Tried for $165. Got W3690 3.46GHz Hex Core for Gigabyte G1.GUERRILLA. What does “Gigabyte G1.GUERRILLA” mean?

So I should get the processor this coming week. Hope to find time to attend to it soon.

The bios version currently is FF. It seems I should update to FH http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449#bios even before changing to the W3690?

Mobo GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0 )

There's no such thing as a W3790, so I don't know what you're talking about there. Yes, I would update the bios even before changing the cpu. FH adds support for Dolby Home Theater PCEEv4..

The Gigabyte G.1 GUERRILLA is an X58 motherboard, basically a higher tier version of your GA-X58A-UD3R. Presumably you did not also receive a motherboard, so I would guess that the listing was mentioning what board the CPU had been used in previously. You can link the listing if you'd like us to take a look at it for confirmation.
