Imagine some evil scientists created a new chemical weapon called H-O-N, aka Hell-on-Earth. What it does is transform the living and dead into the undead. As a former Navy Seal, you have vast expertise with all modern military firearms. Unfortunately, as a current civilian, you've obtained information and evidence as to who is responsible for this occurance. To prevent this from further leaking out to the media and government, they have killed your children and kidnapped your wife. What they want is your life in return for her freedom. And yes, she really isnt replacable, you vagina. You decide to want to live and and rescue your woman so that she can get back to work in the kitchen. Plus, she has a trust fund large enough for you to buy AnandTech and ban the mods. ;) hehe.

You have 72 hours to rescue her before the city is nuked, meaning you will die too, unless you reach the only accessible helicopter where your wife is held against her will. Everyone else is dead, so no help is on the way. All you have is a pair of jeans, a pair of converse, a black T, a kevlar vest, and a swiss army knife. All help is dead, and the city is under strict quarantine. This is a Class III zombie infestation all along the city, and you are safe nowhere. Thanks, to AbAbber2k, here are the classification representations:

As stated in the Zombie Survival Guide.

Class 1: 1-20 zombies in a 1st world rural area, or 3rd world country.

Class 2: 20-100 zombies in an urban or densely populated rural area.

Class 3: Thousands of zombies in an area of several hundred miles.

Class 4: Basically at this point the zombies have taken over and significantly outnumber humans.

Upon your search for your wife, you see a gunshop right across the street. You go inside, but all the guns have been taken, except one. The weapon that you see is the one of your choice. As for ammo, you obtain a backpack full of it. Plus, ammunition for your firearm is littered all over the city from dead soldiers, so the lack of it wont be an issue.

So, what firearm will it be? And be realistic here. No mechwarriors, tanks, lightsabers, or BFG 9000's. Pick only firearms that have been made and that works.

================================

Personally, I would choose the 12 gauge Beretta Xtrema2 shotgun. It's sytlish, powerful, and semi-automatic, holds 12 rounds. A single shot to the head will be more then suffice to kill a zombie. :)

.22 Hunting rifle with a scope. Ammo is light and very easy to find, and the scope makes your shots count.

Belgian made Semi Auto Shotgun with the walnut stock.

Ammo wise whatever heavy load I can find. Double Ought buck or copper sabot/slug rounds would be nice...

Now listen up, you primitive screwheads. See this? This... is my boomstick! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You *got* that?

probably some sort of automatic weapon, no point in a rifle with scope if a zombie pops up at you through a door

If i'm stuck in a building, shotgun, hands down. If i'm out and about, rifle with scope.

Are we talking slow zombies or fast zombies? With fast zombies I'd especially want something with a large magazine and good accuracy. Slow zombies... gimme a shotty... carry a baseball bat as my "sidearm". :p

A CAR15 (or an M4 commando) with red dot scope, great for CQB, especially urban settings, small, light, compact, but good stopping power, fully automatic, also has decent range over say an MP5, and with the red dot scope instinctive shooting would work well if swarm attacked. A sawed off shotgun as a side arm would be nice.

Also OP why would you want an armor piercing round? This is the equivlent of sticking someone with an ice pick, unless it hits something vital, it goes through them leaving a neat tiny hole, and does not stop them.

I've actually been thinking about this a lot...I watched some zombie movie with some friends of mine (these people get stuck in a mall, then go to a boat, ect, ect...)...P90 or Jaffa staff weapon...Yet since the staff weapon isn't real, P90...
