In my opinion, shotguns are worthless in a zombie attack. Sure, it's a CQB weapon but it's a bit unwieldy and takes too much time to reload. For CQB i would much rather have a Glock 17 or Beretta 92 9mm in a quick-draw tactical holster.

In games, I'm always hardcore and favor pistols just because having balls is fun.

IRL... I'd definately have to go with a high caliber rifle or a military/police grade shotgun, simply because the number of rounds you can pump into a zombie doesn't matter unless you do some fierce brain-smashing action.

That's the key.

Hence why I want my Browning semi auto shotgun. Plus my grandpa is an ex-cop and actually have a street sweeper barrel for the shotgun....suddenly that shotgun isnt so cumbersome but still a bitch to reload quickly

Way too impractical... would you want to lug around a big 'ol M249 SAW whilst being chased by several zombies? I think not. :p

Yea, but with 200/74 rounds, would those zombies be chasing me for long?

Remember, zombies are only eliminated through headshots. Spray and Pray won't get you too far :p

Semi-automatic crossbow, full stocked with explosive tipped bolts. Aim for the head.

Exactly. Lets see how far you can chase me WITH NO LEGS!

Basically, you must minimize the amount of time you spend reloading. You need all your time to count... a second spent blowing the legs off of zombies beats a second reloading.

Even if, at long range, you have much greater efficacy with a scoped rifle, that doesn't do you much good if you walk into a room full of 20 zombies... and, while picking off zombies at a range is beneficial, it's not essential, wheras being able to unload a large number of rounds quickly is a good idea.

This is another reason that I'm a proponent of the P90 concept.

12 gauge- everyone knows that if you shoot a zomie's head off, it dies. What better way to do it in one shot?

Anyway, zombies are terrible monsters. They can't move to fast...just walk away from them! All you have to do is not get cornered in!

Easier said than done. You know, you're just running... and running... and running... and all of a sudden, BOOM, you're in a corner surrounded by zombies.

Does this have to be a real firearm? If so, then probably a SPAS-12 or some other limb-destroying shotgun. If not, then the AR-7 rocket launcher FTW!

You have 48 hours to rescue her before she starts eating you out (hehehe). Everyone else is dead, so no help is on the way. All you have is a pair of jeans, a pair of converse, a black T, a kevlar vest, and a swiss army knife. All help is dead, and the city is under strict quarantine.

What single firearm will you choose? Be realistic here. No fanwanking allowed. As for ammo (if any), it will be scattered all over the city (from dead soldiers).

Personally, mine would probably be the P90. Strong, fast, and plenty of stopping power with the armor piercing rounds.

First of all, what kills a zombie? I doubt your gun will have any stopping power whatsoever if it doesn't affect zombies. And if you use armor piercing rounds, all you'll be doing is poking holes through the zombie. I believe a zombie is already dead so you can't really kill it.

Happens every time. :(

Higher ground ftw. Avoid subways, tunnels, alleys, basements, parking garages, etc, etc...

Since a zombie is already dead, what would you consider "vital"? I don't think they have anything vital. Dead=not vital.

Just for clarification, what kind of zombies are we talking about here?

Are we talking about "House of the Dead" zombies which can be killed, or are we talking "Thriller" zombies from the Michael Jackson video? Zombies like that can't be killed, are already in an advanced state of decomposition, and have amazing dance moves.

You might be able to dance along with them in a synchronized fashion to get on their good side, and a moonwalk would almost surely impress them.

Head/brain injuries kill zombies... usually.
