I saw that... so one of those only weighs 2-3 pounds? DAMN!

Still, with a 48 hour time limit, I'd take a gun.

Especially in a Class 3 or 4 zombie epidemic. It just isn't practical (or safe) to go melee a horde of zombies, nor will a sword help you clear an effective escape path. If anything it'd just be a good thing to keep under your bed incase one manages to sneak in on you while you're asleep. But then... you could keep a glock next to your bed too.

Explain the classification system, please?

It's in the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.

Coolest book ever.

As far as the gun, probably a .22 with a scope. Of course I would probably use a hachet or big maul most of the time, they dont need reloading and are silent so I wont get the attention of more zombies.

Here's what I would look for when stocking an arsenal.

.50 cal sniper rifle. Easier to handle zombie hordes if you can take them down from a great distance. Also, you have a good chance of doing a lot of damage to more than one. Unfortunately, it becomes a big hindrance once you're out of ammo. A much more common size would probably be much better, but oh well. You'd at least want to get a good laugh or two out of the damage it'd do. Plus you could always setup zombie traps and shoot some type of explosive and be far from the blast.

Shotgun. Close quarters, not much better at clearing out some breathing room.

A couple of small and light pistols that use common ammunition.

Chainsaw. If you get a fairly light one it might be one of the better melee weapons since you won't tire out from swinging something heavy a lot (it does most of the work for you), and gas is plentiful enough that you wouldn't have to be too concerned about running out.

Some type of semi-auto/auto capable rifle might be one of the better options as well. You've got single shot capability to conserve ammo, but can unload a bunch of bullets if you need to.

Thats what makes zombies so fun. You really have a lot of choice as far as weapons go.

I know nothing about guns, but messing around on Wikipedia, I'd take the M4 Carbine - you can use a single shot grenade launcher and can put on an optional night sight - in a 48 hour period, I might have to fight for my life at night, and assuming a typical post-zombie world with no lights, working automobiles, etc, I'd need to be able to kill stuff without drawing additional attention to myself by flashing a light. Grendade launcher would enable me to "clear the road ahead", or at least slow down a pack of zombies while I leg it to a more defensible location.

Tactical semi-auto shotgun, no problem tearing through them.

Either that or the M-14, M1 Carbine, or M1 Garand.

A while back someone posted a dual .30 caliber machinegun mounted to the back of a S-10.
That would be my weapon of choice, though I would prefer to have it mounted to something a bit beefier than an S-10.

Flare gun, so the army can find me.

A machete is the only weapon I need.

Remember the golden rule of zombie infestation: Knives don't need reloading.

since i'm JC Denton from Deus Ex... I'd have the Dragon's Tooth nanotech sword, a stack of bioelectric cells, and all my augs (regen, cloaking, power recirculator, increased run speed, increased melee damage, see through walls). GG zombies.

edit: real gun - probably the M249, M60, or M4 w/ M203 for mobs :D

I'd just like to have an M1 Abrams tank. No ammo needed. Just shut me inside and the zombies aren't getting in.

If I ever had to go to Isla Sorna, or The Lost World from Jurassic Park, then I'd like to have the tank with me there, too. No damn dino can even dent a tank.

Double bladed Lightsaber ala Darth Maul. Counter Zombies win.

Real weapons? M4A1 w/M203 in case I need grenades, or maybe a G36. And a backpack full of C4 :D.

Have you used a chainsaw? They're fairly tiring...it's heavy, and tends to buck and jolt when you're cutting something nonuniform (like a zombie). Plus you gotta carry it around, and start it...tiring and time-consuming. Best to stick to guns, or maybe knives.

For my part...I believe not NEARLY enough serious research has gone into developing antimatter rounds. So, for my part, I choose any gun at all which is capable of firing such a projectile. If you're going to go out, might as well do it in style, and take a LOT of zombies with you:D

Imagine some evil scientists have taken Jessica Alba hostage. They want to turn her into a super zombie. You hear her cry for help, "SOMEBODY SAVE ME! THE ONE WHO DOES GETS POON FROM ME!" You have 48 hours to rescue her before she starts eating you out (hehehe). Everyone else is dead, so no help is on the way. All you have is a pair of jeans, a pair of converse, a black T, a kevlar vest, and a swiss army knife. All help is dead, and the city is under strict quarantine.

What single firearm will you choose? Be realistic here. No fanwanking allowed. As for ammo (if any), it will be scattered all over the city (from dead soldiers).

Personally, mine would probably be the P90. Strong, fast, and plenty of stopping power with the armor piercing rounds.

First of all, what kills a zombie? I doubt your gun will have any stopping power whatsoever if it doesn't affect zombies. And if you use armor piercing rounds, all you'll be doing is poking holes through the zombie. I believe a zombie is already dead so you can't really kill it.

armor piercing or not, a bullet to the head will still kill a zombie. dont forget that grey matter is extremely soft. a single knife stab straight through the skull and into the brain will kill a zombie. this is the universal way to kill a zombie.

Seriously I would cut myself in half so fast with a double saber.

Just separate it in the middle and have one for both hands.

I believe one of the bigger herbavores, an aptosaurus for an example at 30 tons could probably dent a tent if it stepped on one.
