FIrst it was the size of it, then the game selection at launch, then the size of the original controller, and now the latest thing is to say xbox only has sports and racing games?

What crazy idea will they think of next?

Besides Mario what other exclusive content does GC have to offer?
I would buy a GameCube for:
- Mario Kart
- Zelda
- F-Zero GX
- Wario World
- Resident Evil III

I would buy a Xbox for:
- Grand Theft Auto III
- Grand Theft Auto Vice City
- Halo
- Halo 2
- NHL 2K3
- Dead or Alive 3
- Project Gotham Racing 2
- MechAssault
- RalliSport Challenge
- Madden NFL 2004

I would buy a PS2 for:
- Grand Turismo 3
- Grand Turismo 4
- various RPGs

Thanks, that list helps. I definitely am not interested in a PS2.

I guess I'll go to BB and play some games, see which appeals to me the most.

why not? not only do you have the whole selection of PS2 games you also have all the old PS1 games that'll work too.

I was hoping not to sound too Xbox-biased, so I left out the fact that the Xbox has far superior sound and graphics - though you'd need to buy the Hi Definition Pack to get the best out of it.

Then there's the potential ability to function later on as a miniaturized computer, webserver/router/game emulator, instead of being junked.

Oh, and System Link. 🙂 I played 16-player Halo via Xbox System Link back in August - words can't describe. 😉 Even though I was merely on defense for most of the game.

Get the XBOX! I own the GC, and love it! But the XBOX has all the good RPGs! That and it's a DVD player!

Perhaps a poll is in order.

Alot of members has already sum up the reason for and against each consols.

I like the xbox because I can play with friends that I have lost contact with or move to other states. They are not as proficent in computers as the rest of the population here so online gaming on the xbox has really open an eye for them.

As for the game themself if you played one you pretty much played them all.

Star Wars (GC) = Crimson Skies (XBX).
GTA (PS2)= GTA (XBX)
Grand Turismo (PS2) = Project Gothem Racing (XBX) = F-Zero (GC)
EA sports (CRAP)= SEGA ESPN (ALL)
Final Fantasy XI(PS2) = True Fantasy Online (XBX)
Final Fantasy Series (PS2) = Knights Of The Old Republic(XBX) Obviously Sony is better in this area.
SOCOM2 (PS2) = RAINBOW 6 (XBX)
Splinter Cell = splinter cell (ALL)

Mario, Pokemon, Kirby (GC) = Master Chief, Chicks from DOA (XBX) = Dont know who is sony's mascot.

Live in your world, play in ours (SONY) = ITs good to play togeather. (XBOX) = Do nintendo even have one???

gamecube won't let you play dvds, x-box will. My roomates got all three and the x-box gets the most plays.

the dvd thing really isn't a factor, especially with black friday coming up. gc costs 100, xbox is 180, for 80 bucks u can easily get a much better standalone dvd player than the xbox provides

Sonic.

This is why I m getting it.

I own a GC, Xbox, and PS2. Honestly the GC doesn't get used anymore - or really ever did. My son even thinks the Xbox is the best and loves to play it. I'd personally get a Xbox over all the others.

i got a GC 2 weeks ago and love it. im a big nintendo fan, and that is why i chose it. also, price was a big factor, i got my GC for $50 with trade in at Ebgames. that was the major factor for going for it. $50 vs. $179 wasn't close. maybe later i'll go with a ps2. mario games are great. as are zelda. metroid is amazing too. tried madden just last night, it's pretty tough to adjust to the controller after being used to ps1. but people say if you want sports dont go with GC, and they're right. i didn't really want any sports other than football, so it wasnt a factor. the ability to play online vs others would be cool too.
-edit DVD wasnt a factor here either.
i do like the wavebird wireless controller (not sure if xbox has one?)

I say it depends on what type of games you play and more importantly if this is going to be mainly a solo or party system. If you are going to be using this system as mainly a solo system then I would chose either the ps2 or xbox depending upon game selection. If this is going to be a party system meaning physical people at your place 🙂 I would with no hesitation choose the gc. Games like fzero, mario kart, and smash brothers make the gc imo the best party system available, but you are going to need a decent sized screen to play these games multi.
