I agree, but you really can't go wrong with either. Both are good systems, I happen to prefer XBOX more.

The GC controller is the worst controller EVER.

Why? Granted it is a little small for me, but I have no other problems with it as far as buttons go. And the Wavebird is THE BEST wireless controller ever made.

I'm considering buying the Black Friday @ CC X-Box bundle for $179.99 (Clone Wars and Tetris worlds) with free starter kit.

Here's our situation
  • I'm not really into FPS or sports games.
  • We don't have a DVD Player for our bedroom TV, so we could use the X-Box to watch DVD movies.
  • We have DSL broadband with WiFi.
  • Do you consider this to be a Hot Deal on an X-Box?
  • Is there a new X-Box coming out soon?

Thank you for your advice.

Eh, everystore has that same deal. Its the MS Xbox Holiday Bundle. EBWorld has it, so does Gamestop. So its not the impressive. You could buy it now if you wanted to, dont need Black Friday.

If it's the starter kit I'm thinking off, it comes with Mechassault, a year of x-box live, and some other stuff.

i don't think its the xbox live starter kit, but i might be wrong..

Yeah. If it's some cheesy starter kit like the one someone else was talking about, then the deal really isn't that special.

Xbox Starter Kit = Xbox Live. Its the Xbox Live kit + two free months of Xbox Live. This "deal" is everywhere as its from MS(Microsoft Xbox Holiday Bundle, actually bundled by MS), not retailers and you dont have to wait for Black Friday.

EDIT: Actually I think CC might be throwing in the Xbox Live kit, as it doesnt list Xbox Live in the Holiday Bundle(the new standard Xbox bundle), but I dont know what good is two free months of Xbox Live, if it doesnt include Xbox Live.

I would get a Gamecube. I have both Xbox and Gamecube and I play my Cube WAY more. Plus, I truly believe it has more AAA games than Xbox. Only games I really got into for X were Halo, Shenmue II, and Panzer. I'll pick up KOTOR sometime when I have some money.

I used to have a GC and, well it was fun for a little while, but I just didn't get into it, I thought Mario Sunshine was weak, and couldn't get over Zelda's lousy graphics.

I bought an X-box last week, and it is a totally different feeling. Much better. Of course, KOTOR is a big part of the reason why.

There's at least one Gamecube bundle deal on black friday... 79 bucks for a GC and a Zelda bonus disc at WM. Of course, no DVD player.

I love my Xbox but if you don't like sports or racing games, then I dunno if you'd get full use out of your Xbox.

You can put a mod-chip in your Xbox and do all kinds of crazy things..check out http://www.xbox-scene.com
The Wal-Mart bundle is exclusive and slightly different than the normal Zelda bundle. It includes a free 16-disc game case. Also, you don'e have to mod your GC to run all kinds of cool stuff on it. You just need a BBA + PSO and soon you can do it with a BBA + Action Replay.

i vote for the gamecube. I mean, chances are, you already have a DVD player, and if you don't, a gamecube and separate dvd player together is still about the same price as that package. However, the GC seems to sport better titles. I havn't really been impressed with anything on the XBox except for Soul Calibur 2 and Halo.
SCII is almost identical on all consoles and is most popular on GC (Thanks to Link). Halo is on PC in higher resolutions. Neither of these bode well as a reason to be impressed by the XBOX versions 🙂 (Pst, buy a GC)

BTW, you can get a DVD player for $13 at Target on Black Friday. That's MUCH less than the XBOX DVD playback kit 🙂

Well I checked out the GC and X-Box at Target B&M.

I prefer the X-Box's graphics, controls and selection of games.

I think I'll wait for a super hot deal on an X-Box.

I might go with GC but I'm not a big fan of Zelda.

Besides Mario what other exclusive content does GC have to offer?

Other than Zelda... (you really should give it a chance though especially since its at $30.)

Viewtiful Joe
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
F-Zero GX
Mario Party 5
Metroid Prime
Super Smash Brothers Melee

If you like party games or multiplayer games I would say Gamecube would be best. It's great for people to just pick up a controller and get the hang of it in a few minutes and enjoy. The solo-player games are great if you like the classic nintendo games.

Not good for FPS, RPG, or Racing.

@$100 give it a shot.

I agree the Gamecube is great for party games and multiplayer.

Super Mario Sunshine
Super Smash Bros Melee
Metroid Prime
Mario Party 4 and 5
Mario Kart Double Dash
Viewtiful Joe
Wrestlemania XIX (Good for Multiplayer)
The Zelda Games (Don't be fooled by the cel shading on Wind Waker, it is easily one of the better Zelda games and looks great.)

I could name a lot more, but for $100 its a great deal.

If you need DVD Playback you can always grab one of the DVD Player deals this Friday and still come out cheaper than the XBox.

and super mario smash brothers is also pretty bad. It's like Luigi and Mario on LSD.

You really don't like it? Everyone that I know who has played it loved it. To each his own, I guess. You're right about the GC controller. It's way too small. I bought my own larger controller for my roomate's cube.

i have access to imitation controllers which are bigger then the original cubes. my friend sells them Got like 5 of them for mario kart DD.

get the cube!!!

Super Smash Bros isn't anything like Mario or Luigi, it's a fighting game..an incredibly fun and whacky fighting game.

Some other excellent Gamecube exclusives-

Eternal Darkness
Animal Crossing
Resident Evil
Pikmin
Super Monkeyball 1 and 2
Star Wars Rogue Leader
Star Wars Rebel Strike
Ikaruga

also if you got an old console and game lying around you can still get $50 off a new one with trade in through ebgames. like i said i brought a ps1 and 12 (i think) games in (any games, mine were old sports ones) and got my GC for $50.
