Yeah I've really liked Max but that was a colossal dick move. Acting like a 12 year-old (which, I mean, he's way fucking closer to 12 than I am to his age, so it's not a stretch~)

Kind of a boring end to the season. I hope Mercedes comes back with a stronger challenger next year.

I was glad to see George Russell take his maiden win for Merc last weekend in São Paulo.

I am also curious when Hamilton will retire and what he does after F1. I have watched his entire career in F1 but he is getting to be the old man of Formula One and I can’t imagine he has more than a couple years left in the sport as a driver. I felt a little saddened to see Vettel retire last night and I was never really a Vettel fan, I always thought Lewis was the better driver.

Alonso was really firing on all cylinders, until RB and Ferrari turned the wick up in Q3.
Was an interesting qualy to watch!

PSA: Race is Today (Sunday the 5th) 10am EST. Personally, I use F1TV's Apple TV streaming app and it works great.

A bit boring for RB aside from a bit of hard work from Perez. Super result for Alonso!
Merc still have work to do. Ferrari has good pace, but reliability problems took out Leclerc.

Hmm, am I the only one left on ATF that's watching F1???

Turns out Leclerc's problem was the battery or control electronics associated with the battery. Apparently they had already swapped the unit based on information from practice or qualifying, and you're allowed 2 per season before penalties. So it's a new issue that wasn't present last year, and they're confident that they have fixed last year's reliability issues. We'll see.

It was fun watching Aston Martin and some of the mid field. I'm not sure if we should call the bottom 6 teams all mid field at the moment or not. Through practice, qualifying, and the race they were all pretty well mixed together.

Ocon's and McLaren's issues were almost comical.

The number of gut punches that Leclerc has experienced due to problems at the Ferrari factory must be hard to bare.

Ocon's issues were a comedy of errors. Don’t know what the heck has happened to McLaren - they have been headed in the wrong directly lately.

Bahrain was an awesome race, but Jeddah was kinda boring. Not much going on, really as it all seemed to settle out in the first 3rd of the race.

Qualifying today was pretty exciting, and RedBull is playing a strong sandbag game--Mercedes looked surprisingly great and with Max possibly on his back foot...but then he nonchalantly tosses out a final lap @ .5 seconds quicker like it was nothing, lol. Nuts.

Maybe Mercedes has a good setup this weekend and tomorrow should be compelling, as Alonso will still be in it despite his position today. Hopefully we get to watch Perez fight all the way from the back. Albon continues to impress the hell out of me over the last 2 seasons, but the Williams does also look much improved this year. I wonder if things reach a head at RedBull this year, they'll consider bringing Albon back in place of Perez?

Red flag galore. Red Bull still untouchable. Mercedes performed well this race aside from Russells engine going into flames. Aston still performing really well and now second on the constructor standings. McLaren at least looked like they could be a midfield team rather than a back-runner this race. For Ferrari this race is an absolute disaster. Leclerc got bump into the gravel resulting to a DNF while Sainz mistake at the second restart resulted to a 5sec penalty that pushed him out of the points. Alpine is another disaster with Gasly taking both his and Ocons car out of the race just a few laps before the end of the race.

yeah, frustrating race to watch pretty much after the first red flag. I mean...first red flag, lol. The final disaster was pretty much expected and I can't understand why they thought that restarting the race with a 2 lap sprint to the end was ever going to be anything but a disaster, especially with the history of this track on the first lap. I mean...wtf.

other than checo steaming around 10 cars under DRS and a few seconds of max and lewis it was pretty boring as far as the racing went. the indycar race today was way more fun, though who knows if they go back to texas with the lack of attendance (lots of bad races in a row will do that).

I enjoyed the race, as I tend to do. But, 8 DNFs sure took allot out of it. This track is known for being fast, so the already fast RB 19 was untouchable in Max' hands. Checo had a bad day, as he should have been racing Hamilton (who had a fine race) for second place. Actually, he should have been waving at Lewis when he passed him during the race. In that regard it was an okay race for RB, Merc with dumb mistakes and mechanical issues causing problems. Aston Martin are in a good position this race, especially since Ferrari would have done just as well if they had stayed in Maranello.

Pierre Gasly certainly is in on the conspiracy to prevent Hülkenberg's Podium :D

Charles sure has plenty of "I am stupid" moments lately.
I'm surprised the thread isn't more lively with a first of three US GPs being on :)

None of us can afford the Miami GP! :D

Hope Checo can pull it out today. I like this track, but I hope it isn't as boring as Baku last week.

Well I attempted to watch it. Boooooo-ring.

Confirmed my belief Indy Car and NASCAR are far more entertaining.

wut?

The first 15 laps of Max doing work were absolutely spectacular. Some of the best racing in quite some time.

But you did see how insanely dominant Red Bull are, and really just down to how they've figured out the aero situation so much better than everyone else. No one but Max, Checo, and Alonso were at all confidant on that clean track early on. Max was just outbreaking everyone late. It was brilliant.

There was also a lot of overtaking and great driving down the line--Russell and Hamilton moved up a lot, and does make you wonder if they could have at least kept Alonso in check had they not started so far down.

I can't really do 5 hours of barely-turning-left. sorry, no. lolwtf.

It still comes down to who has the most money.

NASCAR may be 3+ hours but there's lots of action and strategy. Anyone can win on a given day. F1...not so much.

Indy I can take, and even enjoy, there are a mix of races. NASCAR - zipping around small ovals with, seemingly too many pits stop: now that is booooo-ring. I’d rather stick a fork in my eye than be forced to was that sad excuse of a sport.

The most entertaining part of the race was security trying to keep Jackie Stewart out of some restricted celeb area. And of course Jackie paid them no attention...because why should he?

On the one hand all the pit stops add to the strategy...and there's more pressure on the team to perform. But then a lot of it happens at cautions and such. The stages they added are kinda silly but they should eliminate the stage breaks for sure.

NASCAR on road courses is great too, especially with the new generation cars.
