My guess is the ad was run in the areas where they feel they aren't getting sufficiently high sales.
 
Posted new code for this weekend. I am surprised that there is almost zero feedback on this promotion. Has anyone discovered other areas in the country where the 5% might work?

I found it very strange that South Florida seems to be the only area in the whole nation that has this offer available. I mean, look how how generic this code is (newegg + date). It's not like it is sofla8209 or something.

I wonder why we in South Florida are so lucky. 😕

Well, don't feel bad. I talked myself out of buying PLA470s the previous weekend when I could use the coupon. And, unfortunately, I jumped onto the deal last Friday when there was no coupon in effect in anticipation of a higher price which never happened. 🙁

I did last weekend about that Friday's hard drive purchase. They responded right away and gave me the discount mentioning an "exception for a valuable customer". No response this time, which I am not holding against them.

Or chat, or call. The worst thing they can do is say no.

This works best if your item has not shipped yet. They understand that you can cancel and reorder (from them or someone else), so they have an extra incentive to say yes.
 
Newegg must have heard me (or read this thread). The promo code is not "generic" anymore. Now it is specific to the paper in which it was published (Miami Herald): Herald89.
