Alright here is the deal. I was walking home last night, it was late.. and there were people standing around a car near my appartment, and apparently there is a kitten stuck under the hood of the CAR!!! The cat was meauwwwing and stuff, really loud. I just went home, it was late. Today, i was walking by the car again, and the cat is STILL there. There is a peace of paper attched to the windshield with "There is a car under your hood" writing, but the owner has NOT showed up yet! The cat is barely making the sound, its almost dead i think. Its been there for a day now. Its 92 degrees out, and i am guessing its 110 degrees under that hood... :(

Now, i CAN go and get my slim-jim and OPEN the car, and let the cat out... BUT, it is not my car or my cat. Its 2pm now, there are people and cars all over the place, it will look like i am steling the damn car. If it was dark, i would just go and do it... but i doubt that the cat will survive anothe 6 or so hours in this heat. What the fvck should i do? I feel sorry for the cat suffering, but i feel helpless!

Consider this before giving me advice: Slim-jim's are illegal, and this is not my cat or my car... If i was caught (which i probably will be since its daylight), i could face grand theft auto charges, and get into real trouble, and they will surely take my slim-jim away.... Cat ot not, opening cars is a felony, and i am not a minor. I dont think we can find the driver, noone knows whos car it is.

Suggestions??? We dont have much time here.

UPDATE:

So i called the local Police dept right away, you wont belive this!

Me: Hi, There is a cat stuck under a car hood can you get someone out here to check it out?
Police Dispatcher: Ok sir, we dont do that
Me: Dont do what?
Police Dispatcher: We dont get cats from under hoods
Me: Its not my car, i am just worried about the aminal
Police Dispatcher: Like i said, we dont get cats out of car hoods sorry
Me: Can you get me to an Animal Control dept?
Police Dispatcher: We dont have that here, none will be able to do anything here
Me: Its been there for about a day now, its a little kitten i think its stuck and dying
Police Dispatcher: Well, if it got there, it will be able to get out, its his fault, sorry
Me: WTF!
Police Dispatcher: Good day sir

:Q AND THIS IS AMERICA? Wow!

Anyway, i climbed under the car, and i was able to see the little kitten. I think its not hurt, its just really afraid, but i wasnt able to reach it. When it gets dark, i am goin in and doing something...

Some pics of the car:

NEW UPDATE:

Ok, well i gathered some people, found the owner of the car... (we had like 10 people saving the damn cat), and i did get it out... ;) We put some food and it stuck its head out, and well i grabbed it. Its a little black kitten, really scared. We all sat on the grass, and gave it some food. It was really hungry and thin and stuff. What happened next... you wont believe!

The cat eat, and then just friggin ran back to the car, under the car and jumped back up!!!!!! We spent like 40 more minutes trying to get it out again, but then everyone gave up again. I must admit, this is ONE stupid kitten. I think its just really afraid of humans or something... Its still there, still meawwwwing. I give up

Cant you just call the police and inform them of the situation? Or some sort of city/ county officials?

Jack the car up and go at it from the bottom.

I'm guessing the cat got there himself and is possibly hurt now. A car's engine compartment is open at the bottom, anything that gets up there should be able to get out.

Call the police as well. They may unlock the car for you or possibly run the plates and call the owner.

Call the cops... The least they will do is try to get a hold of the owner of the car... If they are nice they will let you open up the car and remove the cat...

Call the police now. They will get animal control out there. If you want to rescue a kitten, take it in (if animal control lets you). If you don't take it in, the prospects for a cute kitten getting adopted are a lot better than for an adult cat, so it does have a chance of finding a good home if animal control takes it to the shelter.

In many cities, you can call 911 for anything requiring police assistance, but you want to be sure.

If you can't find a local number for the police, call 911 and preface the call with "this is not an immediate emergency, but I didn't know any other number to call." They'll tell you if you did it wrong!

On second thought, just call it. The cat could be dead soon, so it is an emergency of sorts.

DO NOT CALL 911!!!! It is not a real emergency. Look in the front of your phone book and it should have the police non emergency number listed. If all else fails call infomation for it.

pics?!? :)

Yeah i agree call animal control or some sort of police/fireman station thingy. Slim Jim's are illegal? What is the law with that? We have one where i work (infiniti). I accidently locked my keys in my car during work one day and we had to use the slim jim to open it up, i guess by how easy it was to do that i can see why slim jim's would be illegal... but... i also read in a book that you can buy em from any local automative shop.

That depends where he lives, bro! In my city, if you call the local number for any trivial reason that you want an officer to attend to, they will tell you to hang up and call 911, because those operators handle all dispatching.

Either way, I really hope he's gotten ahold of somebody. If the cat was stuck there intentionally, he should bash the windows and pi$$ in their gas tank and oil filler cap. If it ended up there by accident and this is not the car owner's fault at all, then the police assistance is the best bet.

(heh, it's probably some Candid Camera thing or Dateline special with hidden cameras to see how people don't give a crap about anything, and they're going to rescue a speaker under the hood).

Help the poor kitty!

Maybe if you call the cops they can break into the car and release the hood so someone can get the cat out.

Poor kitty! :(
