Yup. Hatches are typically shorter than their sedan counterpart. Wagons are typically longer with the extra length coming aft of the rear wheels.

Yup. Hatches are typically shorter than their sedan counterpart. Wagons are typically longer with the extra length coming aft of the rear wheels.

These are production cars. The 5-door GTI is sold in Europe NOW and comes here to the US next year and the R32 5-door is sold in Europe NOW. You wanna see the R32 in real life? Here:

A go fast car with lots of utility, great handling and a bargain price?? The Mazda3s Hatch is already one of the best cars in its class...why not make it even better? You ever think of that? A MS3 can be used as a daily driver and can actually be used to transport stuff, ferry your friends around, run errands, etc and not have to worry about "packing lightly" when you need to go somewhere. The MS3 can be an all thing to everyone kind of vehicle.

The Miata is a two seat convertible. That right there limits its wide-spread appeal.

They're aimed straight at the heart of the urban 20-something male. He wants something sportier than a bread basket, but still needs enough room to carry around cases of beer, and croquet sets and such.

The Mazda3 5-door and Caliber SRT-4 are a good compromise between the two.

Exactly how is 263 bhp wannabe? This is a "hot hatch" aka an import muscle car. Big engine, small body, cheap price. Such cars have a long history amongst actual car enthusiasts.
