So the 3G was actually worse. A lot worse, and yet nobody noticed it.

The 3G had worse speed overall, but when you compare the "full" grips you can see the 4 has the incredible deviations when held full vs. the 3G which had almost no noticeable increase in deviation. When held in the full grip, the 4 actually drops in download speed BELOW the 3G. So when it comes to average speed, yes the 3G is worse (duh). When it comes to effect of being held though, it's incredibly clear the 4 is affected much more than the 3G is.

I think they attributed the slower speeds in the 3G to upgraded electronics in the iPhone 4. Of course if it cancels out the problems with the antenna who cares.

You guys who've never owned an iphone are pathetic. You point out it's antennae problem; you know around 5% of people are affected by this? I've had an iphone 4 for over a week now and I can't even figure out how to hold the phone in such a way that the calls get dropped.

Any smart person who has an iphone will be getting some sort of case for it anyways; this completely nulls the argument of a flawed phone. If someone wants to parade around a $600 phone without a case, they deserve all the problems they'll get.

As for not being the best smartphone? It sells because it's the best. It blows away every other smartphone in terms of sales; it literally shits all over everything else.

Best battery life
Best video capture quality
Best camera quality
Best selection of applications
Best OS - easiest to use, no errors, requires no external modding or tweaking
Best screen/size resolution

The ONLY thing another smartphone might have on the iphone 4 is the HDMI out capability, talk to text, bigger screen (despite worse resolution), and flash. Perhaps better network, although that entire argument is invalid as certain areas of all networks have poor reception.

People just love to hate; it happens with WoW, Iphone 4, Microsoft, etc..

You're late to the game. The problem does exist. Just because something is the best seller doesn't make it the best product. There is no best phone cus every phone out there makes you give up things that are important to certain people. This thread needs to die already.

It's not a problem if every single person buys a case. I bet 99% of people do buy a case. Every single case out there nulls this "problem". Therefore it is not a "problem".

Funny how only 1.7% of iphone 4 users have returned their phone; must be a HUGE problem right?

We've already talked about this many times. There's zero need to bring it up again.

Hes just another dumbass Indian person who thinks they know everything, most of us are like that unfortunately.

Per forum rules, no personal attacks. Debate on the merits, not the poster. Infraction given.

This issue is already dead, no one cares any more, MOVE ON. Your Apple elitism is really fucking annoying BTW.

Shit, I'm not smart. Didn't use a case for my 2g either.

I can replicate the signal drop problem, but I don't usually hold the phone in that position when I'm using it so no big deal for me. However, it is a big deal for my dad.

I dunno...I'm waiting to see AT&T do a new batch of commercials in their defense.

I doubt it. Although Droids are the most popular Android phones on the market, they sell a fraction of what iPhone sells. No need for Apple/AT&T to be defensive. Antennagate is behind them at this point and they just have to keep selling phones as fast as they can make them.

Apple is being defensive by claiming all other phones have the same problems as theirs (as opposed to admitting their phone has a problem). Take that for whatever it is and move on I'd say.

I agree to this. The Apple death grip campaign is being overly defensive.

It did die down pretty fast... I thought they were going to keep the issue in the spotlight longer by calling out other phones as having the issue too.

Just a reminder that Brittney Spears used to sell a lot of albums. That means she was talented and her music was great! *BARF*

Also LOL @ your assertion that the iphone OS is the best OS. Sorry, it can't even get in throwing distance of webOS or android.

Why does the fact that they sell less even surprise you? People on Verizon have a plethora of Andriod options. There's even two from Motorola if they still sell the original Droid.

And soon enough the Droid 2 will be out. If there's anything that I've learned from all of the anti-Android nonsense it's that Apple fans really dislike having different choices, having more than one option always seems to be a bad thing to them. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

That is very true. Apple people like Apple stuff because "it just works". Android/PC people tend to like to tinker with stuff. I personally love having a ton of options. Some people get frustrated by it.

The point is that both iPhone and Android phones fit different people's wants, interests and needs. I continue to say that the iPhone is a good phone, its just not for me. The Apple Fanboy elitist attitude can DIAF any time now though.

I agree with all of this, especially the bold.

Exactly. I just want my phone to work. If I wanted to tinker, I would get a netbook and install Linux on it.

I'm also happy having one iPhone model come out a year, whereas Android fans don't seem to mind a hot new Android phone coming out what seems like once a month.
