Just dropping in for a sec, if your m/b is shorting out when attached to the onboard mounting bubbles then it is probably defective. All newer m/bs are made to be mounted using metalic risers. (At least I have not seen one that wasn't in more years than I care to admit.)

That's why they all have the metal rings around the mounting holes, to isolate them. Check carefully to make sure there isn't some sloppy solder or something somewhere near one of the mounting holes on the m/b.

I'm a little late to the ballgame, but wanted to add another vote for this case being great for the price. I just got mine today, and am already planning on buying more if they ever get the black one in. (If not, I'll still probably break down and get some more)

I am loving this case too. I had no problems mounting my EPOX 8kHA+ board to the mounting bubbles. Only things I dont like was using the lower Hard drive cage, the power supply cable is a little tight. I had to move the CD-rom and the burner down-leaving the top slot empty- to connect the floppy and 2 cd drives on the same power lead. I like the HD's right behind the intake fan too.

Does anyone know if you can get flat 5 1/4 drive bay covers for this case? The bubbled ones I am not sure I like yet. I also ordered the USB/Firewire/audio in-out front panel to replace the USB one that came with the case. This is an awesome piece. It makes the case even better. I have about $65 in the case and I love it.

ellisz - Those power extension cables are less than a buck to solve your problem with the cable not being long enough. In fact, I bought a ten pack from Freight Harbor Tools web site for $4.99 a few years ago. Just an idea to include a few in your order of computer supplies in the future. I've used them to put some my fans on one power lead.

i believe you can just pickup that exact side fan from newegg along with your order... i could certainly be wrong, but i think its the same exact case, so there's room for a side fan, it's just not included...
i'm gettin the $22 one as we speak.

When you got your case was the power supply volt switch located on the back switched on the left or right?

<< With this case, do you just bolt the mobo onto the metal straight or do you need plastic screws? I don't think plastic risers work when you have raised bubbles for the mobo to mount to like that. You can see a picture of the "mounting bubbles" im talking about here. The reason I ask is because my Soyo Dragon shorts out when I screw it straight onto the metal case I have that has mounts like that. Do I have a defective Dragon or what? Thanks, Mike >>

Try reading the newsgroups for more info on this. Basically, Soyo didn't make the metal "pins" on the back of the Dragon mobos as short as they should be. So, they sometimes short out like you describe. I believe you can just take a wire clipper and shorten the pins yourself.

You can just get the side fan separate. That is what I did. It was $6.00 but I ended up taking the fan out and sticking it in the back of the case. The side fan housing was a bit noisy. I might use it later.

FYI....

In order to hook up the front USB, you need to find the pinouts for the USB header on your MB. It may be slightly different for each.

I got mine working on an ECS board, so if you need help with that one, I can provide it.

Those little connectors on the front USB were a PITA. My hands are little but damn those pins are small :)

BTW, Any you guys with this case running 2 HD's and 2 CD drives? I currently have my cd drives on one IDE channel and the 2 HD's the other IDE channel. The HD's are in the lower HD age and the CD drives are in the 2nd and 3rd 5.25 bays. I have heard that it would be better to run the burner and the main HD on the same ide channel and then run the cdrom and the storage drive together. Will any ide cables support this setup without having the move the HD's up underneath the cdroms?

Thanks

ellisz: I have this case and have a CD-ROM, CD-RW, and 4 hard drives in my case. I have a Promise 133 card running the 4 hard drives. 2 are in the lower bay, 2 are in removable drive bays in the bottom 2 5 1/4 slots. The CD's are in the upper two slots. Each is a separate master drive on the primary and secondary motherboard controller (ABIT KG7). I had originally had them both on the same channel but the first time I ran CloneCD to dup, it told me they had to be on separate channels so I did that. This setup works really great and this is the best PC case I've ever used! Of course it's no G4 case, but oh well. ;) I'm getting ready to take the leap and try to turn off the multiplier lock on my XP 1700+. I just got my Dragon Orb 3, some Arctic Silver, and some Rear Window Defogger Repair goop. Hopefully I'll find time in the next couple of days to try this.

Here is another hint that works great for the front USB...

I figured out what order they needed to go in first, then I taped the pins together in groups of 4 so that they would be easy to plug in. I just used some scotch tape... It worked great... It was much easier than messing with each individual connector... I tried that at first... it was frustrating.

Same here, I've got a Dragon+ running great in this case, but I was talking about the Dragon (no plus).

Anybody else notice that the front bezel on this case does not have the standard 1"x1" square indentation for a dome case badge?

Instead there is an oblong, oval, type space. Anyone know where to get a case badge that would fit this space? Thanks.....

Would it be a problem if I replaced the fan in the enhance psu w/ one of the panaflo's from the bgmicro deal (low speed, only 24CFM while adda fan in enhance psu is 38.6 CFM)? ASking because the psu seems a bit loud and I would like to quiet it down a bit...

You can get the front firewire/usb/audio jack from Evercase. Go to evercase.com and send them an E-mail. They were real quick to respond. I faxed my order in and it took about 4 days to get from CA.

Cost $21 with shipping.

Actually, you want the opposite to be true: since the system can only access one IDE device on a controller at a time, you want the master HD (from which you're writing) on one controller and the CDRW as a master on the other controller.
