Is anyone running this PS with an AMD 1700 or 1800 ? I got the case to house a P4 system until I checked out the Mobo AMD Deals and think Im going with a Soyo Dragon Plus with XP 1800. But now you guys have me worried that the PS will not handle it... :((

Any ideas?

Also, Athlon 1600 Vs. 1800 <---- Is there a BIG dif here?

Got any good PS sites if I need to upgrade?

THANKS!

I am pretty sure you won't be disappointed. I don't have anything to do with this case yet... wouldn't mind having a couple more for no reason. I hate having reasons to build new computers. ;) Sue me, I'm a geek.

Your preaching to the choir!

I am currently running an XP1600 on an ECS K7S5A with all the goodies installed and I am using an older model CompUSA brand 300 PS and it is running very stable 24/7 for a month now. I can safely assume that the ps in the case is much better than what I have now. I will move that system over to the case when I get it next week.

I've stated in this thread I think twice now that I'm running a 1700+ in this case and running it fine.
1600 vs. 1800, big dif? no. noticable dif? yes

see posts on motherboard forum...
On ECS K7S5A,
pin 1, 3, 5, 7 are for USB3 (or 0 for the connector), and Pin 2, 4, 6, 8 for USB4 (or 1 for the connector to the case)
pin 9 is "empty" because it is same as pin 10, which can be connected to USB connector's shielding (does look like to have connection from this case)
so here it is:
5v for pin 1 on k7s5a (most likely red)
-D for pin 3 on k7s5a (white)
+D for pin 5 on k7s5a (green)
ground for pin 7 (black)

The second one (right) is the same as the USB3 (left side of the pin layout on ECS)

The result of a USB head from the case, looking from outside toward it:

[ 1...2...3...4] <----- this is the metal inside the usb head
_________ <---- this is the white separator

where
1 = ground, (or usually connected to color wire Black)
2 = + data, D+ (or usually connected to color wire green)
3 = - data, D- (or usually connected to color wire white)
4 = 5V (or usually connected to color wire red)

<< RE: Rear fan direction I'm always used a rule of thumb, the back is for exhaust, front is for intake. Usually more dust behind the computer (for me at least so that thing would need a good filter if it were intake. >>

I've got another reason for the back to exhaust. I tried having my rear fan intake, but my temps increased a few degrees C! Turns out the fan was sucking in some of the exhausted air from my PS.

Does this case have access to onboard Ethernet ala MSI nForce 420?

If yes, I may get it...if no, I will get an Enlight 7237 with 340 watt PS, but for that
one I have to send Enlight $7 to send me a replacement cutout for the back so
I can get access to the Ethernet.

Thanks,

Fed

I was able to confirm with EverCase that the case DOES have a spot for Ethernet just above the rear USB ports,
so I ordered one from Newegg (along with a lot of other stuff).

However, my invoice says I was charged $45 instead of $42, and I was supposed to save $5 for buying an
AMD proc. at the same time, which is not reflected on the invoice.

Bottom line, NewEgg owes me $8 and we'll see what happens and if they do indeed rule. This is my first time
ordering from them.

b/c of the nature of the case (being entirely screwless) it will not be as secured as a screwed case, this isn't saying the case isn't sturdy as it it. The metal inside is not sharp, hope this answers your question...(i've never owned an antec)

i took back an antec when i saw this deal and as far as i can tell, this case is as solid as the antec. with it all loaded up, it's pretty damn heavy.

if this case comes back in stock without the power supply for $22 in february, I'll get a couple more

the metal is a little bit weaker than my antec case, bt it is not bad for a 42$ with a 300watts PS case.

NIC above USB ports is standard ATX format. I haven't seen a true ATX case that wouldn't hold the nforce. Also, that's what is going in the one my roomate bought!

Anyone want to buy an Inwin Q500N, modded with a 120mm delta side intake? ;)

The black one looks really good....then I wouldn't have to paint mine :D

Yea, Newegg owes me 5 bucks for the AMD dealio thing too, but Im not worrying too much about it.
As I said before in an earlier post, I got this case. I was playing around with it, and found that the side
case fan actually sucks air in, instead of blowing air out of the case. Is this what should be happening?
I thought most fans blow hot air out, not suck cold air in, not sure whether its as effective. This case is
as solid as a turtle shell. Trust me. Its solid construction makes it slightly heavy, but who wants to carry
his desktop everywhere? Esp if its a midtower.

Thanks for the good deal GtPrOjEcTX.

Sounds correct to me, you usually want that side fan to blow air directly onto the mobo. You should balance the # of fans blowing air in and out.
