Doesn't look like there are any vent holes in the front for the case fan - can you verify this now that you have yours??

sesopadalian, i hate you i hate you i hate you..... thanks. You really know where to hit a cheap bastard like me. After a few weeks of looking and trying to decide on a case, and basically having my mind made up, you toss me a good curveball. After shipping for both case and seperate PS, the breakdown is like this
400W sparkle/case=enermax 350W, case, 300W PS, $10 more

damn, thats temping, having a good 300 laying around for emergencies. Heaven knows ive gone through a PS or 2.

WolverinesSuck: There are no vent holes in the front, but there is a large inlet near the bottom of the front cover, that alows for sufficient airflow...

Such a nice cases, the extra brackets, and the screwless system are well worth the deal...

Enermax PSUs suck compared to SPI's

Take the deal from evercaseusa.com. Its much better, u only save 10 bucks, I mean, whats the deal in that?

Be reasonable, and try to get the best deal, not the most savings.

I received my case last Friday and my Abit KG7/AMD 1700+ combo and Mushkin 512MB 2100 DDR with coolers on Monday. Put the whole thing together, moved all my cards and drives from my old PIII system and it works great. I got the $40 case without the extra fans, but I ordered some nice ones from elsewhere. The 300W PS is plenty for me, I have a CD-ROM, CD-RW, 4 hard drives, Radeon 64 VIVO, Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer, Firewire card, Intel 10/100, and Promise 133 card. This case has tons of ventilation all over it, is incredibly easy to install things into, and despite having 1 additional 5-1/4 exposed bay more than my last case, is like 3 or 4 inches shorter. This is the best case I've ever seen and used on a PC.

Of course it can't compare to my Apple G4 Graphite Tower or even my old PowerMac 9600 for ease of case access, but it's a PC, what do you expect? ;)

I just got my case too. I must say it is pretty sweet. No rails to install on the drives... no screws needed for the drives or expansion cards... easy to get into, no real sharp edges. Very nice.

I got the 42 dollar one that included the side case fan. Not bad for 57 shipped. Oh, it shipped from California using FedEx Saver and got to Atlanta in 2 days... can't beat that.

Ordered the case early this morning. I was looking at a Lian Li, but the price on this case seems very reasonable (seeing as everyone has had something positive to say about it). This is my first time trying to piece a computer together. I won one of the processor/motherboard combos from the online AMD contest. 1800+ Athlon XP. Should I invest in a better motherboard, or will the one that came with processor suffice?

btw, I have no idea where to start or what to do with all the pieces. LOL Any advice or warnings for me?

Thanks for the deal on the case.

first u gotta ditch that 1800+ and send it to me. I will destroy it for u personally. then sell that motherboard and give the money to me.

Well, I checked the website and it says that it is a "gigabyte motherboard model #Ga7-DX." Any ideas?

Thanks

I have been a lurker here for some time and decided to join after I built my first computer. With everyone's help here I built an amd 1.4 w/tyan board. and 20 gig maxtor hd with Plextor burner. I have an old P2 desk top that is behind the times and took advantage of this case deal to upgrade. I wanted to thank all who post here and this OP for his post and allowing me to do what I have done. By the way, I have no experience in electronics or computers at all. So you can see how far I have come with all your help.

Got my case today. Since I was ordering an XP 1700 I saved another $5 when I ordered this...$52 is a sweet deal on this fine case. There ARE vent holes in the front besides the slot underneath. They are just inset into slots on the side so they don't show. WELL thought out case folks. I'm taking out the PS and putting in an Enermax I have.

Congrats on ur first post!! I was an ultra lurker for 1 year. But unlike u, I registered first, but didnt post at all until a month or so ago!
Wish u smooth sailing on ur new pc!
I am waiting for my complete system to come too, from newegg.

Quytopia:

Thats an amd 761 chipset motherboard. It is really good, only slightly slower in terms of benchmarks as compared to the via kt266A chipset. You would do well to stick with that board, as its more than sufficient for anything, plus u got that 1800+ there, I only have a 1600+, but Im still happy too!

Got it. The fan in front of my two 40gb seagates keeps them cold to the touch. This case replaced an INWIN s500 and showed it up in every category. Kudeos to the case designers. BTW, The side vent fan is nearly useless, very low air flow. I replaced it with a Panaflo L1A.

Does anyone have any recommended sources for some good case fans for this case? Looking for a good place to buy and good brand fan. My requirements are more for low noise than anything else. I'm not overclocking, but want to keep things cool. Looks like this case uses 8 Cm fans.

OneCoolPC offers a decent amount of information and great customer service, even if their prices will never get them mentioned in Hot Deals. I've always been very happy with them.

Got mine tonight and it is great!!! Absolutely right on the vents and slots for the fan up front. thanks for the heads up on the side fan bracket not doing much - i ordered 4 fans from the cybercooler deal and will replace as well. btw tweak3d.net has a great article on cutting out that vent on the side door and replacing it with a grille for better airflow.

i do have one question - the risers that came with it (the ones that usually hold the MB up off the case - did you guys use them to install the motherboard? it seems that they lift it too high for the io panel. is it ok to not use them? i don't want to ground the MB by not using them.

also, for this case which way should the rear fan blow? i've heard it both ways and wanted to get some opinions here.

I got three of these showing up friday along with 3 mobo's, and 3 duron processors, 3 fans, 3 hard drives and 3 video cards! can't wait!

Also i did not see a $5 x 3 reduction in my total so i guess i have to call them tomorrow, any one else see this? Also the price on the processor dropped $3.00 ea a couple hours after i ordered them!that suuuuccckked but on the good side the HD price went up $2 ea so that is almost a wash!

RE: Rear fan direction

I'm always used a rule of thumb, the back is for exhaust, front is for intake.
Usually more dust behind the computer (for me at least so that thing would need a good filter if it were intake.

WolverinesSuck - It looked to me that there was enough of a "point" to this raised metal to mount the motherboard that
it took the place of any additional standoff. I assumed it was engineered that way so one could just attach the motherboard
without additional riser hardware. As for the fan, I believe it is best to blow out.

Hey, for those of you with a PC Club nearby, I believe they have this case for only $49.99. I'm in CA, so I'd pay tax w/ NewEgg anyway, and this way I get to save on shipping.
Evercase at PC Club
Unfortunately, there's no picture available, but the number listed in the description matches the one on the Evercase website.
I e-mailed them asking if it was the same, but they haven't replied yet.
I'll know for sure this Saturday when I pick up some stuff from them.
