My point exactly.. can't call the one in favor of the US an own goal. Otherwise, what if the goalie tried to save but couldn't deflect the ball off far enough and end up in the net? Would that be call an own goal? Don't think so.

regardless of what we think, the scorekeeper ruled it an own goal.
