UPDATE: Heard on the radio that the two racers were arrested. One is a young Caucasian woman, and the other is an undocumented male from El Salvador. (Not that race or gender has anything to do with it .. .) It was the man who actually hit all the pedestrians. Woman crashed, but didn't hit anyone. I need to find a link.

The dumbasses are going to be arrested and hopefully incarcerated (assuming the abandoned cars were theirs and not stolen)! Strange thing though- I've never seen a Dairy Queen that was busy, let alone so late at night.
editt: I meant "Street Racers" not Ricers
2nd edit: This appears to be in a 'black' neighborhood, so definitely no rice.

GASTONIA, N.C.
A car ran out of control on a busy thoroughfare and spun into lines of customers waiting outside a Dairy Queen late Monday, injuring five people - two seriously, authorities said.
The impact threw people as far as 20 feet and knocked some of them out of their shoes, according to witnesses. Witnesses said the car, a Chevrolet Camaro, appeared to have been racing a Mitsubishi Eclipse down Franklin Boulevard when it hit a utility pole, went out of control and ran into two lines of people outside the ice cream restaurant at 9:22 p.m.
"Two cars were speeding and they run into the people in line," said Dawn Pappas, whose husband of three years, Nicholas, was injured. "My husband was the last one in line."
Police Officer Keith Quinn said both drivers fled after the accident. No arrests had been made as of 9 a.m. Tuesday. Two people were taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Gaston Emergency Medical Services operations supervisor Tommy Cleary said. Three others were taken to the hospital, two with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and one with minor injuries, Cleary said. One victim was in a parked vehicle that was hit in the parking lot, he said. None of the victims' names or conditions were available early Tuesday.
Leigh Anne Bradley, a 19-year-old Dairy Queen employee, said the car was speeding when it hit the power pole, spun around and hit four or five people. People lay on the curb screaming, including some children who screamed for their parents, she said.
Ashley Bradshaw, 19, was next door at Ink Link Tattoos at the time of the wreck and was one of the first on the scene.
"I felt it sitting in there," Bradshaw said. "It knocked two people out of their shoes and another one to the other side of the parking lot."
The Dairy Queen's owner, Dane Aaron, said he and his employees called 911 and then handed out rubber gloves and paper towels to help the injured.
"You could hear the impact of the pole, the squeal of the tires and then all the people screaming," Aaron said. "The girls here thought the car was coming in here."
Carrie Morris, 23, of Chapel Grove said cars often race on the stretch, and on Monday night she could hear their engines roaring before the crash.
