Man, I just went through the "regional warehouse" thing with the Staples/Ingram Z-680 fiasco. Luckily, I eventually got the speakers, but it took some work. I really hope I get this thing and I hope I don't have to work with two sets of CSRs to get it done.

Ah I found out why my order said needed additional info. i had to verify my credit card for some odd reason and when I did they updated ny status and it nows says at the warehouse.

How is it possible from legal stand point that you authorize them to charge you $350 or so and they're still able to charge you what ever amount they feel like. I just placed an order and printed out both email and reciept at the end of the order and if they charge me just penny over the quoted price without verifying with me in advance , i'm filing a dispute with credit card company. I've done it once before ( about 3 or 4 years ago ) and got my money back.

Even if it substracts few points from my credit score i'm not letting these guys make fool out of me.

How is it not legal? The dont charge you for it until it ships..... If the price goes up you can cancel.. i'mnot sure what there is to get all worked up over.

I'm sure there is some sort of consumer protection law against this, it's like advertising something in the newspaper and selling it for a different price when you get to the store. Even if it's not illegal, I don't think they're going to AUTOMATICALLY charge you the raised price, they'd get terrible PR. Worst case (and most probable I'm thinking at this point) is that they send us all an e-mail informing us of a price change and requesting some sort of confirmation figuring after waiting all this time we'll settle.

It's just odd about not shipping to non-billing addresses because most big-name online retailers will do it no questions asked (buy.com, amazon, apple, etc.) but I've run into the problem a few times with smaller ones. The shady thing is they e-mailed me about it once, and I told them to just ship to my billing address, and they e-mailed me back again asking what address to ship it to (wtf, i just TOLD them to ship to my billing address) so i e-mailed them back and told them to ship to EITHER address, i didn't care at this point, i just wanted my card shipped.

then they told me they'd ship it to my originally requested non-billing address.

I've bought from Provantage before, and had them ship to a non billing address. That address is registered with my CC, so that may be the difference.

I'm not getting worked up over raising the price , i'm getting worked up ( from what i've read on reselerrating ) it seems these guys just ship the item to you with higher price tag than you were quoted at the time of purchase. without verifying in advance if its ok. That's all.

IF they raise the price , and send me an email asking if i still want my order shipped , i'm ok with that ( of course i'll cancell , but that's beside the point ).

WTF are you serious? I thought if there was a price increase they would inform you first and give you the option of still ordering. I cant imagine any company charging higher without first checking with you. If they do, simply dispute the charge via CC and they will call you asking why...and you tell em and they will either charge what they promised or ask you to send back the card at which point you ask em for return shipping. You said you saw that they did this before?

Thats ok, there isnt room on my card so it doesnt matter.

No i didnt see that happen with these people , but it happend to me with Dell 2 times before. 1st i got refund from my credit card company 3-4 yrs ago because Dell wouldt buldge , so my CC company made them. 2nd time with 2001FP monitor they quoted me 749 plus tax , but charged me 999 PLUS shipping and PLUS tax. I didnt notice it untill my credit card statment came. ( you can imagine how i felt when i saw CC bill , i almost passed out 🙂) ( and yes , both acknowlage and confirmation email had $749 plus tax in them ).

And from reselerrating statments , it sounds as if these guys pull same stuff once in awhile but people that left reviews there didnt state whether they recieved verifying email or phone call from them .

Well guess what, my credit card was already charged yesterday afternoon and my status changed right after. Yeah it's fishy, they charged and it doesn't state it even shipped :-/ But on the other hand, it may confirm that I'm already locked in for the price 🙂

Have they actually charged your CC or simply put a hold? A hold they can do whenever. However they shouldnt be charging you until your item actually ships. If they do, that is low. I sure as hell wont pay the charge on my cc bill if i havent received the item by then.

It should only be a hold at this point. I would make sure to clarify that. I believe it is illegal to charge you for anything that has not yet been shipped.

Yeah it's a hold, sorry for the error. HOW ANNOYING!

It looks like a number of us took the plunge. My PNY Ti4400 died last Saturday 🙁 I hope they accept an RMA (yeah right). Actually bought a 9800 pro at BB, but decided to do some research. I feel the 6800GT is really the best buy right now...

Hello from PROVANTAGE.COM,

We have processed a shipment on order number XXXXXXX.

 Woot!

I don't think he's kidding. I've ordered plenty of things form Provantage and that is, in fact, word for word what they say in the shipping confirmation email.

Now just let us know if you actually get the GT and not a Vanilla.

!! 🙂 !!

OK edumacated81, when did you place the order and which regional warehouse was it sent to?

Order date: Friday, July 16, 2004 - Doesn't specify which warehouse. I live in DFW area.

Dunno why mine is being processed faster than those that ordered on the 14th. I didnt do anything special. I chose ground shipping, so maybe that will even it out 😱

GL to everyone else...I see it happening in the next couple days for others
