Just out of curiosity. The page says that they may increase price on orders if the price goes up. Have they raised prices on orders already placed?

My concern is that before they get the cards they will jack the price up
 
This card will be worth 300$ or more at cristmas time. Anyone want to bet a gentlemans wagger? Say 5$

The 5950ultra performs at 2/3 the performance of this card, and you cant find it anywhere for under 300$ And it has been out for over 6 months. Thanks.

I decided to take the plunge, sure hope they don't raise the price on this pre-order. Hopefully they'll get a lot of these cards in so we won't have to wait months to get them.

I really don't want this thread to turn into a stupid performance argument like the 9800 vs 6800 thread in video


Everyone please, decide for yourself. Look at the benchmarks. I am sure there is a benchmark where the 5950 performs 2/3 and i'm sure there is one where the performance is close. Lets not getting into a huge fight because everyone wants to defend their previous gen card 😛

Look at the benchmarks, decide for yourself, and just discuss the deal without all the BS.

There ya go enjoy.

The GT is 33% faster than the 5950 on average. Maybe more. The lower the res, the closer the match. But when you turn AA or AF or increase res, the GT will be ahead by double in most cases.

So for 1024*768 with 4aa 4af turned on, which is what I like to play every game at, i will see the advantage.

Seriously though, I would normally wait my self, but I sold my 9800 pro and i'm stuck with a radeon 7500 AIW until I get this card, so I want one ASAP

Ya you probably got a deal deal of green for your 9800pro which makes it much more palletable of a deal. My cards are so modded...custom waterblocks and OC'd to hell I'd be afriad to even sell it to someone.😱 Just waiting for $300 only because I feel that's where linear price/performance value kicks in and I try and stay a value consumer on comp stuff since it depricates faster than anthing I know of.

Really I swore not to pay more than $200 for a video card a long time ago....but this quantum leap this gen will most likly change my mind...

Yeah it's a nice leap. I used to say I would never spend more than 100$ lol. However back in the TNT 2 days you get get a nice diamond TNT2 32mb for like 100$ and it was a GOOD card then.

Anyway, I was building a rig for a friend, and sold him some RAM/9800pro/monitor/other misc stuff for 300$ so really i'm paying 50$ for the upgrade. I normally wouldn't sell so soon, but this is pretty much the only time I will get anything decent for my 9800 pro, and for the budget gaming system I am building for him the 9800 pro will be awsome.

I'm excited about this GT though, and the prospect of ocing it. It is also cool to have a 256MB card that is actually powerful enough to use the 256MB.... that's the main motivation for me. I will get a little more longevity out of a nexgen 256mb card.

You guys waiting for this to drop to 300$, well it just isnt going to happen. That is unless you are wanting to wait until 2005.

Mind telling me what crack you are smoking? I have had my PNY GT for aboue 3 days now (got in on the CompUSA 30% off deal). My GT hits Ultra speeds with stock cooling (including the crappy goop they use), and does go higher (When my room is cooler)...

Wow... are all the junior member's latley total A$$hats?

I meant no one has it from this deal yet, not that no one has a 6800 GT, so we have no idea what the cards shipping from provantage are hitting. Cards can perform differently from different batches from the sam manufacturer, or even card to card.
 
I splurged on it. I probably wont get it til August. Great deal on great card....kept going back and forth on this and the X800 XT. I'll spend the mulah for the future and OCbility.

I dont know that anyone has gotten one for less than 300$? The bestbuy deal was 299$ for VERY few people, and that was a price mistake, so I think it's rather silly to count that, and that would be 318$ anyway.

Regardless it's stupid how people argue over this, of course it is going to go down in price over time, duh.

So really, when people post things like "still too high" I'm waiting for $$ it's just flamebait, you have to know
that.
