I also have two dead trees on my property. Well they're not dead, they don't have leaves. I've heard of HOAs ordering trees to be cut down for being "dead" in winter. The problem with all these types of petty rules is people use them as a weapon if they don't like someone.

These petty little groups of nosy neighbors are a blight on any neighborhood controlled by an HOA.
Recently one mandated, or tried to, that you are required to leave your garage open from 8 AM to 5 PM so it can be verified that no one is living in your garage. Never mind that you store tools, mowers, bikes, etc., etc. in there which are now not secured.
Others have rules that you cannot leave the garage open for more than 10 minutes at a time because it displeases others.

And they are not needed, city and county zoning and restrictions already address things like junk cars, over grown lots, trash piles, etc., etc.

So, let's see if I understand this. You want enough control over individual choice to prevent anyone from voluntarily choosing to live in a "controlled" community? I'd say that: "People who enjoy that level of control should go live in North Korea". 🙄

IMHO there is nothing wrong with any community arrangement (and any level of common, nondiscriminatory understandings, including none at all) as long as its members are aware of what the expectations are up front before they choose to join (buy). If you don't do your due diligence up front to know what the rules are, then you have no one to blame but yourself if it later turns out that the rules prevent you from doing certain things you want to do (e.g. parking unlicensed cars in front of your house, not maintaining your landscaping, painting your house lime green). You made the choice to live there. Why should your neighbors allow you to change the rules for the entire neighborhood to suit your personal whims?
 
When/if you reproduce wait until you see the beater car situation becomes and playing musical cars. Then you'll understand the street.
 
IMO, if you park on the street, it's fair game. Expect to have your tires slashed or your car keyed. Some people just have no respect for others.
 
Don't worry guys - MI is going to start slowly loosening restrictions since our cases have plateaued so socially distancing landscaping companies can go back to work. And about time too. At this rate people were going to miss ones of lawn mowings! All just to save a few lives

(I haven't had to mow my lawn yet and we live in one of the warmest areas of MI)

I've mowed once already...2 weeks ago...and it's looking like it needs to be done again already. 🙁
