This sounds like BS to me(looking at the wrong monitor).....guess we will have to see what happens though

and there was no one on hand to point that out to them before they called in and checked?? sorry Conjur but it seems as if there were enough confused there about how it actually worked that a call was warranted....again, had this been on the other side of the isle I doubt you would have said anything, instead you would have agreed that it is better to be sure than sorry.

Foxnews just reported that the Philly DA has inspected one of the machines in question. The machine has 2 counters. 1 counter counts the total number of ballots recorded over the life of the machine. The other is the one that is supposed to bet reset to zero for each election. The DA claims the monitor has confused the total ballots counter with the individual election counter. That is what the Philly DA is saying at this time but only one of the machines in question has been inspected.

What votes? There were no votes. Do you not read?Originally posted by: lordtyranus
They should just toss these votes out instantly.

MSNBC saying the machines didn't have some counters set to zero. A poll work in PA saying it's all rumour that votes were planted.
Appears to be a non-issue and an apparent attempt by the GOP to delay voting in a heavily-Democratic area until new machines can be brought in.
So if this were the dems doing this you would have said the same thing? sorry but I would rather them be sure of the situation instead of letting it slide...someone screwed up and didn't reset the counters when they SHOULD HAVE.

whatever conjur, honestly come tonight things will be much easier hopefully for everyone...if Bush gets it which I doubt now then all this bitching is moot...if Kerry gets it us repubs will have a fun time pointing out every failure the guy makes and can wish either for his loss in 08 or his impeachment![]()

2 forms of ID are required in order to get registered in the first place, making false registrations almost impossible. Addresses are double-checked against the DMV database, making dual registrations almost impossible.Originally posted by: FuzzyBee
Considering how many false registrations have been allowed, you just go back and vote under your aliases.Originally posted by: Vic
How? Doesn't a voter have to present his voter registration card and then sign (and there is only one place to do so, alongside his/her name) in the precinct poll book? That's how Oregon did it before they switched to all mail ballots (which is awesome) and how WA state still does it. No ID except the registration card needed. Sign here next to your name. No fraud possible (unless someone gave you their card to go vote for them, but then the signatures probably wouldn't match in the book and you couldn't vote anyway).Originally posted by: Bumrush99
In my precinct you have to show your ID to vote.. However, if someone could forge the very simple yellow slip they hand you to go the electronic voting booth, it would be very easy to vote repeatedly.

Like I said, it's shocking that you east-coasters have been voting for more than twice as long as we have and we can get it right but you can't.

I just heard that these supposed votes.. were actually just a TOTAL vote counter that showed how many votes had EVER been placed on those machines. .. more overreacting??
