Looks nice.

About 3/4 of the way through, after about a 10 days, the wife says, "I didn't think you'd go for it"

It would have been bad if she said something along the lines of "I wanted blue, not orange"

My mom said something similar to that after I helped my dad paint the house. We both refused.

We went to a place to match the paint color of our house and it was slightly different from before. My mom wanted us to repaint it. NO FREAKING WAY.

Nice ... I put a line down where I'll help or not. Minor painting techniques ... OK ... otherwise I just help with the priming and major undercoats ... details are up to her if she wants 'em 🙂 Fortunately she doesn't want a whole lot of complicated crap.

Whoa, nice paint job. Forget that - GREAT taping job! It's the prep on these things that drives me nuts.

Congrats.

same here. I can just feel the strain on my neck and shoulders putting up the painters tape on the ceiling. That must have been a PITA.

Fan-fvcking-tastic job! Orange is supposed to be the newest hot color. You should change out that chandelier. Its too contemporary for that room. 🙂

/:heart: 's HGTV

It's decent, but doesn't match the gold-looking trim.

OMG! I just realized! Your dining room probably DOES clash with the adjacent rooms! Sorry to inform you, but now you've got more painting to do! 😛
What a sneaky wife!

Thank god my wife watches HGTV and does the painting. 😀

OP, do you happen to have a list to a site with the basics on how to paint a room like that? The basics seem obvious, but they'll probably have some pointers that could be helpful...I'm going to repaint a few rooms this summer and that might be fun 😛

Yes, I like pain.

How much did that Blue painter's tape cost you? That crap is expensive!

Also, i am confused. Why did you start taking the tape down before finishing the orange squares? And why do some rows look way narrow than others? Optical illusion?

My advice is to never get a hair tipsy and go in there. 😀

Other than that, it looks way cool!

Believe me all the rows are straight. I went through 6 rolls @ $5/roll.

whoa, that's nice.

my wife is looking for that same shade for our living room for our east coast house.

i think we picked "marmalade"
