Looks nice.

About 3/4 of the way through, after about a 10 days, the wife says, "I didn't think you'd go for it"

It would have been bad if she said something along the lines of "I wanted blue, not orange"

Heh.. It reminds me of an acid trip I once had many years ago. I'd begun noticing that the orange walls were VERY goddamned.. orange.

Pumpkin, they tell me.

Without a doubt the darkest color I've ever painted a room.

The wife says, "Don't fear color."

There was a little hiccup where she said the diamonds were too small after I drew the first four lines on the ceiling.

I'm pretty sure that's what they said in the 70's too, and we all know how popular avocado appliances are these days.;)

Looks nice. What's the transition like into the other rooms? I'd be afraid to do something like that, because it'd clash with the adjacent rooms.

OMG! I just realized! Your dining room probably DOES clash with the adjacent rooms! Sorry to inform you, but now you've got more painting to do! :p
What a sneaky wife!

it looks like you/she fell victim to swatch sydrome.

you found a swatch of color you really liked, and thought to yourself, "hey, this is nice and warm and bright, the room would look great bathed in this color"

and then you realized that the larger the field of color, the more intense it seems (compare a 1" square of bright yellow to a 5" square of the same color, the 5" looks like a different color)

What a sneaky wife!

All of the main floor and common areas are a beige. The entry-way which this abuts has med. oak wood floors.

As much as this might not suit many tastes, I can say without a doubt that my wife's decorating skills have always gotten rave reviews. Colors are her thing.

u poor bastard. but nice job. and yea painting takes longer than you think, and its more of a pain in the ass than u think. i just used a sputter sprayer. what a freakin mess. i painted the ceiling and myself at the same time:p i was considering doing a marble type two/three tone on the wall but its just too much of a pain.

consumer reports did a test on paints a few issues back last year. bear tended to come up tops:)

If that?s the same as those wagner sprayers... I agree. Ever so often it would cough out a glob of paint like phlegm, ruining what ever advantage a spray gun had.

I used to have that problem, but learned to strain the paint through a piece of pantyhose when I put it into the reservoir. That seemed to solve the problem.
