This is EXACTLY how i received the ipod. The Fed Ex guy said he's never seen anything like it and doesn't now how that could possibly happen. Being that I'm a nice guy, I signed for it and he marked it as damaged. He said if the product doesn't work, just to contact the shipper. The ipod turned on, but it's making a horrible clicking sound and the back plate is bent so much it fell off when I picked it up. Any chance of me getting a new one by this Friday? Doubt it =/

*UPDATE*
I called yelling at Fed Ex, they gave me a claims number and transferred me to Apple. Apple was really nice and they have another one ready to ship to me. They gave me free shipping back to them and they're sending someone from Fed Ex to come get my old one within the hour. Once a tracking number is established, they'll release the new one to me. Still mad, but could be worse

looks like the ipod tried to grow legs or something and tried and escape the box! i havent been following ipod news lately, i know they released a u2 version... did they also release a harry houdini version? is his autograph engraved on the back?

That's insane! I got a box of ammo for my 30-06 a couple of months ago that was beat up pretty badly. Fortunately for the UPS workers involved, Cabelas packages their stuff very well.

I have an 8 our drive back home and it's a hard drive without one. Also, I was hoping the packaging of the ipod would save it since I've ordered one before. This one came directly from apple as well, and they're very good with situations like this apparently...

from the looks of it I don't think the plane slowed down as it delivered the package to your local Fedex office.

$10 says it fell off the truck... which then promptly backed over it. Twice.

My gawd! I agree with a lot of people here; I'd be pissed and on the phone to the shipper, tearing them a new one.

I had Fed Ex do something similar to a $14,000 AS400 that was destroyed in route.

Their claim - "It was a packaging problem from the shipper"

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
