An application by Google Inc. to set up a satellite receiving station in the Midwest could hint at the company bundling TV service with its ultra fast Internet service promised for Kansas City. Or something else.

Google is being characteristically mum on the subject, a spokeswoman saying only “we're still exploring what product offerings will be available when we launch Google Fiber” — the name given for its Internet service project.

And the application filed with the Federal Communications Commission for the satellite receivers does not give specifics about how Google might use the station in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Even in Montreal one cannot get real fiber/feee-bruh, only the fake Bell "Fibe" which still uses a copper drop. It doesn't really matter until they're ready to supply speeds that surpass cable/dsl capabilities though. So far cable companies like Shaw already offer 250mbps out west (120mbps here in the East with Videotron), so who the eff cares whether it's "fiber" or not really? Whereas TELUS (and Bell), has a certain number of customers on actual fiber to the premise in both multi-dwelling units and houses, yet all of said customers are still capped at 25mbps (LOL).

The more action we have going on in the internet world, the better IMO. a gigabit internet connection would be sweet.
