I know right? Porn would load instantaneously.

That sucks...

Wonder if I pay as much as you do for my 30/30?

90 percent of the users in my country are on mobile broadband. Local loop is not unbundled where 1 previous Government company is ruling. You have to put in a home telephone to have a hardline here.

Does this mean Google is going to become an ISP, too?

All this vertical integration, and Google will become the "Standard Oil" of the internet. ;)
Google will become the Standard Oil of the planet. ;)

Their software is in some of our communications devices, they have a project that's developing self-driving cars, and they could very easily mess around with the availability of information.

Do no evil.

Just what we need. Even more data being collected about how people use the internet.

Husbands would have to explain to their wives why they are getting coupons for midget lesbian videos in the mail.

LOL. Like google will do anything different with it than the other 2.

Google will do things differently as the other two are highly regulated and have special rules governing their specific business entities.

Looking at Google Zeitgeist, I see disturbing trends:
Top women searches: Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna & Aaliyah.
And top men searches: Nostradamus, Bin Laden, Eminem, Michael Jackson & Howard Stern

The only thing any of them care about is collecting marketing data, no one at Google, Verizon, or AT&T gives a crap whether you are a fan of midget porn personally, only that there is a midget porn fan at IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

As a provider of internet services Google probably has more incentive to provide good service and not throttle like current ISPs.

LOL! Yeah, google would have no incentive to provide better/faster service to all of it's applications and sites vs. those of competitors.

Nope, no incentive there at all.:colbert:

We might not get fiber here in my lifetime but I can only hope that if enough fiber is laid, it will get my speed upgraded (at a cheap cost if any) because of the threat of competition. I really need some competition in Lexington (have DSL option but it sucks and now that Time Warner is taking over cable, I don't know what to expect).

Would love to have me some Google fiber!

we need more competition in the telecommunications industry. its sad how things were broken up to achieve competition and have since reverted to near monopolies :(

I heard Bell is going to be laying Fiber in Sudbury, which is 300km south of me. I'm excited that they're even looking at this part of the country. Maybe we'll get it too eventually.
