Same here. Checked the BB at San Carlos, CA and no inventory. SF BB even told me that someone bought the damn demo unit! Unless there's inventory then there's no deal. I need this bad but don't want to pay 49.99.

PM officedepot to BB....add something for $0.01....use 20 off 50.....29.99
Haven't seen this mouse/keyboard combo at OD, have you?

You know.. I have no clue what this deal from BB fell under. There were no markings on the in-store signs other than the price of $49.97. Maybe it was a Labor Day deal and when I went in on Tuesday, they forgot to take the sale price down? It did scan at $99.99 for me and I only got the $49.97 after I showed the CSR at BB the sign. What's weird is that this deal was not in any Labor Day flyers, so I'm stumped.

As far as stock goes, does BB have stock online? I guess that wouldn't matter if you wanted to PM CUSA. I've never tried PM'ing BB before purchasing online. Is it possible?

Anyway..

just saw it on the OD website.....going to the store tomorrow....will report back
I'll be damned.. I tried to do some sort of PM with OD in the past, but couldn't find this keyboard/mouse combo at OD. I just checked and it shows OOS for me.

I think Logitech is getting ready to release a new optical/cordless combo. That's why you probably seeing all the deals and OOS on it.

Yes, it is a labor day thing. That's what I was told by the sales dudes.

I have an idea for the folks that have AMEX Gold like me.

Buy at BB then PM against an online retail store which going for around $70-75.

99.99 PM $75 = 25 saving - $50 MIR = $25!

This might work. I'm trying this tomorrow.

Hmm.. Wonder why it wasn't in the BB Labor Day flyer then? I sure lucked out getting the cashier to give it to me for $49.97 then. I'm glad that BB workers left up the sign for me and that the sign didn't have any sort of "Labor Day Sale" markings or dates on it.

The AMEX deal sounds good. I just applied for an Optima card, but haven't used it yet because I'm not sure if they still have the BVG with the Optima card. Does anyone know?

Made a killer deal on this today, its not dead

After checking all the local BB for stock and finding none I drove to BB-B&M and found the old sale price still on the shelf
The Merch team must have been lazy because the other BB had already cahnged the price.
I copied this on the All in one in the printer isle and left for CompUSA for a price match.
They had plenty in stock and when I asked for the price match they said they would call the local BB and check but I knew that they (BB) never answer in the Computer dept so I was good to go. I tried to steer then to the BB that had an open box unit but they didn't answer the phone either.
I had my kid with me so I started to instill a little heat on the cashier that she need a bottle or some crap and then things got rolling.
She said she would have to check the BB web site and after 5 minutes I showed her how to find it on the BB web site and it showed $100 with a $50 rebate. The cashier said I would have to get a gift card for the $50 so I said fine and when I asked the price she said $29.99.
The final deal....... She marked the unit at $29.99 and I bought the $50 gift card. I have a $30MIR and I found a dime on the floor which I kept.
I figure that I paid $2.32 in tax minus the dime and I made a penny on the rebate (30.00-29.99) and I can use the $50 card for my next deal anyway.
$100 worth of stuff for $2.21
Not a bad day
I have a scan of the reciept and the bb flyer if anyone wants it

hehe

This pricing situation seems to happen periodically at Best Buy B&M on the weekends that a competitor has a price that BB needs to match. Their search engine of the competition spits out a low price AFTER rebate and the BB B&M just drops the price to match the competitors after rebate price. Then on the first work day of the week ( Tuesday this Labor Day week) when real people can program the computer, it then raises the price but adds a rebate to equal the competition. Sometimes you can catch Best Buy in a double low price posted and coupon spit out as many of us did with the RIO MP3 player a year ago. (That time they dropped the price from $100 to $50 to match Circuit City, then for a while, added a $50 coupon without raising the price. So some of us got free MP3 players from Best Buy AND did price match to Circuit City that
also had the original $50 rebate so had another free player). These are never advertised and are only found by the sharp eyes of Anandtechers. Keep looking!!!:

Damn.. I knew I should've had kids. That's a great tactic when a cashier wants to call and verify stock at a competitors store.

She said she would have to check the BB web site and after 5 minutes I showed her how to find it on the BB web site and it showed $100 with a $50 rebate. The cashier said I would have to get a gift card for the $50 so I said fine and when I asked the price she said $29.99.
It's so nice to see the individual stores making up their own policies. I just love it. ;)

I finally scored one at the SJ BB using the AMEX BVG. Mine came out like this:

99.99
- 33.92 BVG refund using the online ad from A Matter of Fax price of 66.07 (do a search on pricegrabber.com)
---------
66.07
- 50.00 MIR
-----------
16.07 plus tax.

Not too shabby and I didn't have to harass for a local PM. AMEX is so much easier to deal than the damn store PMs.

Overall a very nice combo. The keyboard has a very nice soft tactile feel and most important of all it matches to my new Planar 19" LCD (black)!
