I never understood this calorie counting thing either. Life is short, why put yourself through that? If you are hungry, eat, if you are not hungry, don't eat. Eat bad foods in moderation and eat good foods as much as you can, but don't force a diet on yourself. Enjoy life. I might be a little overweight at 160lbs but I'm not 600lbs either.

Personally, if I didn't watch my calories, I guarantee that I could easily eat 3000 calories a day without a problem. Sometimes you can do this and not even realize how many calories are actually in the item, and especially when the item isn't very filling to begin with. I find this to be especially true with desserts. 😛

To give you an idea, I went out for Chinese earlier for lunch (note: I avoid all sweet sauces... so no Teriyaki, General Tso's, etc.), and my dinner will most likely just be a nice salad (~300-400 calories). Although, given my father died from heart failure at 52 (and his dad also died from heart failure at 52), I should probably avoid Chinese food, which tends to be very high in sodium. I just like rice-based dishes too much. 🙁

A footlong is hardly a meal, with roast chicken and cheese it's only about 700 cal. Throw two cookies on top and it's more yummy 🙂

damn, i've been doing pretty well losing weight these past few months. up until an hour ago, i had about 450 calories in a protein shake for the day.

since this patty is not on their menu, i am estimating the sub to be ~ 1300 calories. fvck!!!!!! i hardly eat there, why did i go? i hope my sweater still fits right when it arrives next week. 🙁

I thought you looked like a homosexual cartoon character? :hmm:

Throw on the veggies and it's about as close to a complete meal as you'll find in a national fast food chain.

I usually like to get a good idea of how many calories are in what I'm eating, and given that I've looked up Subway before, I knew your values were wrong. Although, according to Subway's website, your values aren't just wrong but extremely far off.

Meatball Marina 6": 480 calories
Chicken & Bacon Ranch Melt 6": 570 calories
Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki 6": 380 calories

Although, their Bacon Ranch sandwich seems to have changed a bit... I don't recall it being a "melt" before, and it probably had less calories prior to that.

EDIT:

I do realize that these are 6" subs, and obviously for a foot-long, the calorie content should be about double.

hmm...

according to that site, what i get when i go there totals 1500 calories.

mmmm, goood.

I am about 20 lbs. UNDERWEIGHT, I can eat a whole footlong Subway Philly Beef & Cheese with everything easily.

Huh, hope this isn't too off topic but this post got me thinking.

If a girl told me she was 20 or even 15 lbs underweight (adjusting for height), I would be wondering if she needed to be hospitalized. I don't have the same reaction with a guy. Is that simply a result of our "ideal weight" for men being realistic and our "ideal weight" for women being the low end of a healthy range?

I'm 5'5" and healthy at 115 lbs. When I If I were 15 lbs underweight, I'd be in serious trouble...

I thought it was the reverse. A lower weight for women is more acceptable than a lower weight for men. Thinner women are more attractive. Thinner men are scrawny weenies.

Maybe it's a definition thing. I've almost never heard a woman describe herself as "underweight" because underweight IS her ideal weight.

Which makes me kinda sad; there will never ever be a time in my life that I look at myself in the mirror and think I can eat whatever I want because I need to put on a few lbs.

This depends on your metabolism and what kind of diet you have gotten used to historically. I've always been on the heavy side most of my life so it's very VERY easy for me to get into the 250lb range and even though I'm 6'1 when I'm up there in weight I look like a big guy! For me it's not as simple as eat until I'm full. If I do that I quickly eight 250+ lbs. Granted I'd never let myself become some 400+ fat fuck but 250+ is unhealthy enough as it is.

What I usually do is eat half of a footlong and save the other half for later.

Because I'm a cheapskate.

So everyone on ATOT eats footlong subs, yet we hate fat people?

What dies eating foot longs have to do with weight?

I eat a foot long every time I visit subway(Large if Quiznos).. am 5' 10" and 130.

I also have cookies along with a sub if I am really hungry.

It's how often you do this kind of thing that determines if you are a fattie nor not. That and other factors. How often would you say you visit Subway and or Quiznos?
