I can't believe I'm saying this, since I'm far from a Gator fan, but you might want to check out the University of Florida for taxation law. It's ranked very, very highly in that field, and Gainesville is a low cost of living town that was ranked #1 in the America's Best Cities list a few years back.

Of course, it's about as far from Seattle as a person can get, but I thought I'd throw it out there, since you're applying to schools on the East Coast.

A lawyer once said not to care about specialized rankings like that, but to only care about the overall rankings. Like in IP law a lot of strange schools are highly ranked, but they should be avoided since they're not well ranked overall. Not sure if it's true or not...

I am attempting to balance both your words and CanOWorms' advice; I actually had thought about UF when I checked out the rankings for taxation - I think it's ranked... fifth, something surprisingly high.

So I don't know if it's worth the extra money for applying or not. I have no special interest in going to Florida, but I wouldn't mind living there for a while.
