Just to update you guys I got the s4 & had the ECU flashed, added a Borla exhaust & a K&N air filter. Ive owned some fast cars before(96, 2000 Vettes, 02 XJR) but this is one(after the ECU was flashed) is just pure evil. Its almost like it has a different engine in it now. I also see the previous owner has put Neuspeed springs & rear sway bar on the car as well. This is my 1st Audi & I must say Im impressed. Im ususally not a 4 door sedan kind of guy but I really like this car & I cant get over what a difference the ECU flash made. It went from a quick car to pure evil now!!!

S4 will be significantly more fun to drive, but expect it to be expensive to maintain. The acura should still be in warranty, and will be significantly cheaper to maintain. As much as I like S4s, I'd probably choose the Acura. Is the audi certified to 100k, or has the warranty already expired?

The Audi by far. If performance is what your after. I'd get the Accord V6 before the TSX, just for the performance.

Audis aren't unreliable...yes, there have been some problems with certain engines in recent years, but a) those problems are mostly resolved and b) Audi stepped up and extended the engine warranty for those cars to 8 years (I'm referring to the oil sludge problem, which is what I'm guessing most people who chant about the 'unreliable' Audis are referencing). There was also a coilpack problem, but to the best of my knowledge that has also been resolved with the new coilpacks (I had the problem myself, but a new $20 coilpack was all it took to fix).

Audis are like any fine automobile: they run extremely well provided you take care of them. But I guess you have to be willing to put up with a few more foibles than you'd get with, say, a Honda.

I like the S4-just factor in all the gas and insurance costs as well. Good luck on both of your choices.

Comparing an Audi S4 to a TSX is an absolute joke.

The Audi obliterates the TSX. Acura doesn't make a single car today that can compete with an '01 S4 for performance.

I have an S4 Avant 6sp (2001) and its been reliable. The only problem was a broken heater core during the first 6 months of ownership and its been A-OK since. I had it chipped with an APR stage 1 4 program CPU - stock, valet, 1.0bar boost and 100octane. The chip ups power from 250hp and 258ftIbs to around 330hp and 370Ibs, the 100 octane adds about 20 more hp and is well worth it if you can find the gas to put in it. :D. Its a lot of fun to drive, as long as you take care of it it should be a great car :)

$2k for downpipes and exhaust and you'd be near 400hp.

omg. no warranty? are you kidding me? goodluck with that man. at least for the acura it'll be a nice comfortable ride. 200hp and 162(?)lbs/ft torque is not that bad for a nice entry level luxury sedan.
i would get the acura before i even considered an audi without a warranty. an AUDI without a warranty is like being sent to IRAQ without a bullet proof vest to wear.

Jeez thats a huge bump in power from a chip. How long of a wait while you sent your ecu in?

Before you decide, go and drive both, you may like many others be dissapointed by the S4. The S4 is a pretty large car and trying to have fun in it isn't as easy or even fun compared to other cars. I honestly didn't feel like it had lots of power in any aspect.

The old S4 was much, much more fun than the new one.

no, the theoretical max horsepower you can get out of an S4 with stock injectors is something around 350hp
