Gigolo, lets put it this way.
We're comparing guaranteed 2.2 DDR vs guaranteed 1.88 Rambus.
If you break it down PORPORTIONALLY, 3.0 DDR vs 2.6 rambus is the same as 2.2 DDR vs 1.88 Rambus(do the math, its about the sme)
From Tom's test, 3.0 DDR vs 2.6 Rambus, its about equal as one was faster than the other and vice versa in the benchmarks.
So now that we can assume that 2.2 DDR run about the same as 1.88 rambus, lets look at other factors.
1) the DDR solutions is easily cheaper.
2) Most people here already have DDR rams laying around as oppose to Rambus.
3) In Tom's test, he was saying how Rambus supports are very shakey in the future.
4) And this is the best one. Chances are with DDR, you can probably hit 2.4 - 2.7 with the 1.6A. Can you go beyond 1.88 with rambus ??
Probably not because as Tom said, the 850i chipset have trouble going beyond the the ~115 fsb.
So there again, its obvious which solution is better if you're going to buy the 1.6A
