Well all I know is that the OCZ Modstream is better, and I know I can trust it. I think ULTRA needs to improve the X-Connect a bit before everyone will trust it.

congratulations on a job well done.. but.. if anyone is considering that sleeving kit you might wanna get some separate heatshrink tubing. the stuff that comes with that kit suckssssss as you can see by how loose it is on gprophetb's wires. the tubing reminds me of fruit rollups. anyways, what did you use to remove the molex connectors? i used a staple to take apart my atx connector and it didn't feel too good.

i didnt take the molex connectors off, and maybe the pictures dont do it justice (i know the shrink isnt the best that comes with the bundle) but they did a pretty good job. They dont move very much at all (like less than a mm each way)

Yeah well on a FOOTBALL sunday theres nothin better to do but relax at home and sleeve!

EDIT: and theres over a foot of snow in my driveway, my lincoln LS doesnt enjoy plowing snow... and ive yet to shovel it. 🙂

RWD plus snow = DONUTS!

How did you tie the ATX sleeving then if you didn't take the pins out? Heatshrink for the ATX would've been like 2" (maybe 1 1/2" if squeezed) to get over the connector and of like 1:6 ratio to bind it all. Curious, as I hate removing those pins.

ok for the biggest ATX cord i took and measured the exact peice, then i cut the sleeve down the middle (allll the way down the middle)

then wrapped it around and zip tied that thing to hell!

The removal tools are pretty cheap. Not to mention, you may wanna consider betting a better powersupply. I just purchased the Antec Neopower 480W with Active PFC. Very good quality power... the main ATX cable is sheathed the rest aren't, but it is a modular power supply and apparently a good quality one. Cost me $148 from a supplier.

thanks craig! , i think this case/PSU is going to be a home to a very low end Celeron/Sempron File server, i dont want to risk nuking all my stuff just to hurry and get it installed.. oh well patience will save me in the long run i gaurantee that

:barf;

I'm really sick of PC mods. Like when the UV lights first came out they were cool and everything, buts it's really old. :disgust:

Oh well, i just prefer a plain middy case, guess thats mo.

edit: that really is a quality sleeving job though.

thats for the compliments, yeah this is my first UV project, we will see if it is "too much" with the Cathodes on. Its odd though because im usually pretty conservative when it comes to cases but this time i wanted EMERALD to be realllly green.

Awesome job, Graham. I'm not sure I have nearly as much patience as you. 😉

And as for the controversy; We had our people talk to Powmax's people and Powmax has agreed to put the following on all of their X-Connect product pages: "ULTRA X-CONNECT SERIES POWER SUPPLIES ARE MANUFACTURED BY ULTRA PRODUCTS INC."

Hopefully we've heard the last about that. 🙂
