Well im happy with how it looks. But it REFUSES to play nice with windows 2000 server. :(

Basically the install goes without hickup, but once i go through the second part of the install (the GUI part that asks you to set the time zone, network settings etc...) Then when you finish it prompts you to reboot, this is the part where its supposed to load windows and take you to the login part.

Well it gets to the "windows 2000" splash screen and HANGS hard... have to hard reboot it
-YES it does have SP4 included

heres the kicker, it runs windows xp pro w/sp1 perfectly.

ANYWAYS heres a final picture for everyone

PLEASE HELP! ARGGG

File server completed and wired

---------------------From 3 weeks ago when i sleeved my PSU originally------------------------------------

Well just finished up 2 1/2 hours worth of sleeving / heat shrinking / zip tying / twisty tying! I didnt have a heat gun so a lighter had to suffice, its a bit painful typing as i burned myself twice! Well when its all done im pretty happy with my work.

Check out the pics of my new case and powersupply, this is going to be my new server case with a 1 terrabyte setup :)

Experts dont dog me to hard! This is my first sleeving attempt!!

------------------------------------------
*** NEW pic
Original Case out of the box

Case with side off and everything showing

Powersupply half way done!

Power supply sleeved and done

Case with side on and front panel wires sleeved

-----------------------------------------

What do you think?!

dude that looks fantastic. i have a few questions. where did you get the kit? ive hear you have to remove the connectors to put it on, so how did you do it without taking them off? and how the hell would you know what wires go where if you DID take them off?

That power supply looks familiar, my brother has it in his comp, it's not exactly high quality.

but good job on the sleeving though

thanks! very much appreciated, well not taking them off meant that i had to stretch the sleeving around each individual molex connector INCH BY INCH, no joke it took sooo long. Then when i got the sleeve over the whole thing i would cut LITTLE snips to squeeze the other molexes out that were on the same cable.

Then i would zip tie around where i snipped, and repeat. Now for the main 20 pin MOBO connector i took the biggest sleeve (i think they give you 2 feet of 1" inch sleeve, and CUT RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE, and then wrapped it around the cable and zip tied it every few inches, (COULDNT even tell could ya!)

it is a great kit indeed and YHPM, (about where to get the kit)

everyone check out my hot deal thread to find where i got it

EDIT: forgot to mention the sleeving actually almost doubles in size when you push it together, so i would push the sleeving together then slide the molex up and repeat. Boy it sucked. But its ok i just listened to some techno and had a cup of coffee. Actually enjoyed it towards the end

Yes i know bud its not the best PSU, "450" watt powmax. Hopefully it holds up for me, as its going to house 4 HDDS 1 optical drive and a temporary AGP vid card.

I do my sleeving without a molex remover too. I seriously would not have done this on an el cheapo power supply. You do realize what you have in $$ hooked up to it could be fried in 2 seconds. It's just not worth the risk to me.

that would seriously blow, lets hope that doesnt happen!

Do PSUs randomly blow up or what? i mean its brand new, what are the chances that when i first power it up it exlodes all my components?

I mean im not expecting this thing to power too much stuff, nor am i expecting it to run for 5+ years

I recently had a brand new 350W FSP Fortron blow up on me after about 2 months of normal use. It was powering 2 HDDs and a 2100+XP. A very minimal rig. They are sh*t PSUs. I think I'm gonna stick with Antec and Enermax only from now on. I had good luck with older 300W Sparkles (same company as FSP/Fortron) but I think since then, manufacturing quality has gone down. The units themselves even weigh less.

Oh, it can blow up. That's what happened to my system before -- a capacitor exploded with a BANG loud enough to sound like a 9mm next to one's ear. :( Bye bye motherboard and CRIMM. It's quite random, even on non OC rigs.

But nice sleeve job. Wished I had time to do another one, but sleeving takes longer than 2hrs for me (done the first one without a molex extractor -- and the ATX pins were god awful to remove as they were quite snug that even a pin had a hard time getting in there. Antec True power series the pins are harder and difficult to bend the wings even with an extractor).

lol you guys have wayy too much time on your hands. I sleave all my PSU cables in electrical tape. I don't have any pics but you could probably imagine what its like. Kinda like a mummy wrapped in black. Very neat for a 6 minute, 1.2 cent sleeving job.

Must like the ghetto look, Mrvile....lololol

BTW, used orange electrical tape one PSU, only on the ATX bundle, since I didn't have big enough heatshrink. ;)

But tape is sticky and collects all those dust bunnies. :(
