I was looking at Anand's chart in their review. They show it was $130, and the 750Ti as $150. I did not look at street prices.

From what it looks like nvidia has purposely shot itself in the foot with that 128 bit bus and even more oddly the total lack of over-voltage options and no 6 pin for the 750ti. It costs the same as the 265, but preforms worse everywhere. It has great OC headroom, but too bad cuz you can't use it.

Seems like they're going to depend on people being dumb enough to consider "power savings" as one of the big criteria on choosing a card for gaming. Highly disappointing, had they given this even a 192 bit bus and a 6 pin, it would be in GTX 760 territory.

They didn't probably because of the very reason you named.
760 is not a bad card and there are lots of those on shelf.

I don't mean stock. The shader and ROP defecit will keep it out of the way of the 760 unless OC'd to 1400mhz+ (which would seem to be possible with the boost offsets its giving)



Losing by a 20% deficit to the 265 at the same price point is a joke, especially on a new architecture with a mature node. All would be forgiven if it would clock to 1.4Ghz, but sadly nvidia decided it wanted to show off it's low power usage. Woopee.

Nope. Doesn't have the connection. I was gonna order 2 of them earlier until I saw that. lol

Ended up ordering Gigabyte 760.

Edit: Did some diggin around and found a benchmark that features the GTX 560, GTX 650Ti, and R260x. 650Ti/R260x should be on par with the performance of the 750Ti, so it should be a valid comparison.

This release with the dumbed down 128 bit bus shows Nvidia's Maxwell plan is going to closely mirror Kepler. Release 'mid-range' Maxwell's first at high end prices and then over a 2 year time frame finally release the 'big' Maxwell. Looks like GPU/CPU Stagnation is here to stay...

Crazy that all of the professional reviews are in complete disagreement with your assessment. There is a reason they kept the 7-series branding.

I remember another analysis recently:

Mantle is looking like it's going to give the crown back to the 290X, although for mGPU the 290X never lost the crown. 10-15% is easily enough to put the 780ti in its place.

I wonder what intel is thinking about this. The 4770k/4930K/4960X are no longer going to be great ideas if all you want to do is game. AMD processors are suddenly viable options, assuming Mantle really takes off (and I think it will).

The 260X has 100 MHz higher clock speed. Even that is enough to make power consumption soar. The 260X was never meant to be a particularly power-efficient card anyway - it was designed more for maximum yield and performance.

Compare the 750 Ti to the year-old 7790 and it's not quite so flattering - 10% higher performance and 12W less power draw. Sure it's a good card and Maxwell shows a lot of promise but there is nothing here that AMD is unduly concerned about.

Erm, the "whole system" remains the same except the graphics card. That means the difference in the graphics cards is....?

You also realise that Bonaire is only 8% (12mm2) bigger right? And it has the DSP's for TrueAudio taking up at least 10mm2?

Nvidia basically has a chip that is 25%-30% more efficient - their next gen chip that was built for this purpose vs a year-old AMD chip that was never even designed for efficiency in the first place.

And 12W more power is around 17% less power for the GTX750TI. Combine this with the 26% lead and the perf/watt advantage is 47,5%. No difference to other AMD cards on the market.

BTW: Why would anyone care about an AudioDSP on a graphic card?

Its 20% faster in Crysis 3 where we are taking the power measurements.

And uses less power (12W) in Crysis 3 as well (that game isn't good for this type of measurement as its too CPU hungry).

Very telling is that is uses less power in Furmark than the system does in Crysis 3 (the 7790 uses more). Though furmark clocks are down this should not be happening, especially if there is a power or thermal limit.

I posted TPU efficiency graph on the last page and the 750Ti is 61% more efficient than the 7790.

This is called an outlier. The reason it's an outlier is because the 750 Ti is 3x faster in Batman Origins. Most reputable websites wouldn't benchmark that game for this reason alone.

That's why techpowerup is getting such crazy perf/W numbers compared to everybody else.

They have the card almost 15% faster than the 260X when most everybody else is around 5%. That can only happen when one or two games are ridiculously biased.

GM107 seems pretty much like a test run to see how their new architecture fares. This somewhat makes me anticipate Maxwell 2.0 in 2H2014 on the 20nm process. Im betting that this is when nVIDIA will pack in as many features as possible along (DX11.1/11.2) with what we see today with the GM107 with reasonable power envelope.

I mean given the perf/w of the GM107.. a hypothetical GM204 could very well be ~GTX780 (or higher) performance with similar TDP as the GTX680.
