They don't live that long. 😉

Just saw one tonight in our house for the first time. In fact, I've never seen one before today, somehow visiting this thread made my mind create it in my living room

They live anywhere from three to seven years, depending on the environment.

In an act of defense, when one of the house centipede's legs is held down, it drops that leg in hopes that the attacker will be distracted by the temporarily twitching appendage.

:disgust:

Ahh, didn't know they could live multiple years.. interesting.

First time I ever saw one of those I was reading a book on my bed when one dropped from the ceiling onto the pillow next to mine. I freaked out, ran off, and when I came back it was gone. Stripped the bed but couldn't find it. Was'd all the sheets/pillow case and spent the next week in the guest room till I finally figured out wtf it was. 🙁

Awww maaaaaAAaan!!

I was hopin' for some convulsions, or frothy foaming at the mouth!!

Somethin' good!!

I remember a guy down the street got bit by a Black Widow on his foot when trying to put on his "garage" shoes......(Black Widow had camped out inside).

He had to go to the ER 'cuz that side of his body started goin' limp. Also labored his breathing a bit, but they said that it was due to the whole "left side" thing. He limped for a couple days, then was fine.

Darn! 😉

The house centipede, Scutigera coleoptrata, is the only species capable of reproducing in homes and is often seen in and around homes where dampness occurs. The house centipede is active at night, moving about in search of cockroaches and other insects. Although centipedes are beneficial in that they destroy other insects and their bites are rare and seldom dangerous, most people have an aversion to their presence inside their homes.

O yea, these things are friggin' fast...
If you touch it and blink, it will be gone.
Wasn't fun when i was trying to tape a house centi with some packing tape. It was only this big -> ------- but it was so d@mn fast still.
