Comes with the new free Titan Update Pack, I bought this when it was $10 after Xmas, it's a great game, wish more people were playing it.

?Titan Pack? includes:

* 16 environments ? four Warfare, three vCTF, six Deathmatch, and three CTF maps ? that are new to the PC and PS3 versions
* Three bonus pack maps, CTF-Face, CTF-Searchlight and DM-Morbias
* The namesake Titan mutator, which lets players overwhelm opponents as a 15 foot tall titan, or crush them as a 30 foot tall Behemoth

Isn't the Titan Pack free to download regardless of whether you bought it previously, or if you buy it now 😕?

Yeah, if you bought the game already, you can just dl the Titan Pack for free, but UT3 is usually $20, now it's $12, a sale for the Titan Pack release.

Yes. But I don't play competitively online and haven't since 2001 so I'm not overly picky.
 
I would rather have a bucket of chicken, but I guess it may be worth $12. It will always be the dark child of the UT franchise.
 
Any opinions on whether this or TF2 is better? I know they're very different as far as depth of strategy.
 
I bought it from gamestop for $13 + tax, just 3 days ago and registered it with steam. It is definitely worth that much money. Check gamestop out if you want retail box and hate steam or something.
 
It is worth it for $12, even if you don't ever play online (not that there are many people there anyway). The LAN play is great, once you get used to the odd menu system and the bots work very well. Personally I never got into playing UT online, even when I did alot of UT 2k4, it was always solo or mainly at LAN's. I played a ton of BF2 and CS online but I just never got into UT online... odd...

I would buy another copy but I all-ready have three... 🙂

There were quite a few people on last night, probably due to the free weekend. The new option to turn into a Titan is damned cool, but then this game has always had some really cool stuff, vehicles, weapons, etc., and it was still kind of just swept under the rug.

I'll be on this weekend checking it out more, that's for sure.

Like all the UT games, the UT3 bots are pretty competent for casual players, especially on harder difficulty. The new patch actually does a lot to enhance the bot experience from what I've read.

I saw an interview with Cliff B a few years back where he said that percentage wise, something like 90% of the people who buy UT games never play them online, but use them entirely as a single player experience.

Servers are busy no matter free or paid.
I bought this deal but game still won't download.

Oh well, I am not in a rush to play it... eventually it will download.

I've been downloading for 11 hours now, and it just hit 70%; but it has also slowed to crawl @ 40kb/s. :Q At this rate, I MAY be able to play tomorrow sometime.

I feel sorry for the folks who are going to try to install this today. Their download won't be done till after the offer is over.

Kinda nerfs the idea of a "free" weekend. Yeah Valve!
 
It is certainly worth $12, it was $10 in January. Anyway, I bought it retail from Best Buy when it came out but recently, there was an agreement signed that let retail owners transfer the license to Steam. Now I do not have to worry about the DVD or the serial anymore. I hope the Titan pack helps its popularity. It is a great game however it is not much of a change from the past UT games and a lot of people are still sticking with the older versions.

I doubt Valve anticipated that the response would be so massive, plus, this game is huge.

I hope everybody can get in and play who wants to, I'd like to see a lot more people buying and playing this game regularly, I think it deserves a larger player base than it has.
 
Tried to d/l and the server was too busy. Heh. At 8Gb on my crappy connection, I just might finish downloading it by Monday! 😛
