This is one of my favorites as well, compares only to half life. The amazing part is that I played it after beating UT at next to the highest difficulty level and I still found times were Unreal was very challenging. I had less problems with half life long before I when though the paces of UT.
And this game does have some great lighting and reflections not found in even Unreal II. I found myself several times shooting at my own reflection or taking advantage of mirrors. And in the dark I can use the flashlight or my primary guns to light up the place.
But my absolute favorite part were the gigantic maps. I sometimes spend several hours exploring every part I could get to and I really like being able to sneak up on enemies from almost any position very realistically. Something that is definitely not found in today's games.
