The time doesn't take into account you reloading the saved game.

It's more like 20 hours of playing the game.

gametime doesn't imply how good/bad the game.. even tho max payne is a short game(i finished it in 1.5 hrs), it was well worth the $$..

10 hours, thats utterly pathetic for a full price game - especially one where there's no multiplayer. £30 for a weekend gaming? LOL.
TBH its things like this why people pirate, 10 hours gameplay isnt worth the cash unless it's really special and hence gets much replay value. I looked at the releases this month and U2 has so much to compete with:

splinter cell
raven shield
generals
IG2
condition zero

expansion packs are no excuse, other than to make money. releasing free addons isnt either, finish the game then release it, not make people download huge files (and unlike MP games, far from all SP gamers have any net connection, never mind a fast one).

I'm on the fence here. Yes I got a copy off the NG's and before anyone flames me for warez keep in mind there's no demo and I am buying it anyway. Even though the warez release crashes like every 5 minutes I've seen enough of the game to be very impressed with the graphics and gameplay. I don't know if I'll be blown away like the first Unreal when I walked up to the edge of the cliff overlooking the waterfall (Wow) but that remains to be seen.

Now that I know it's shorter than many expected I'll make sure I play on hard and do some exploring. If it sucks as bad as some people are saying I'll just sell it back to them as used for store credit.

Turn off EAX support. It made my game crash like every minute for me too.

Nah, they do that because they can. They use "10 hours is weak" to justify it.

No, they pirate because they're common thieves. If they can't justify paying the price for the game then they have absolutely no right to go and download it.

I can't pay for a Ferrari yet I don't go out and steal one. I can't afford it so I go without.

Not at all, but I do have some idea of how much effort and time it takes to make a game. I stick up for the developers because just like you they have themselves and their families to take care of. They can't do that if people warez their software and don't pay for it.

(wonder what kinda pr0n this guy secretly likes)
Liking pr0n doesn't equate to stealing.

I had to tell you how much your hyprocritical kind anoys me!
Please enlighten me, why am I a hypocrite?

If we want to talk about GREAT fps games then its a simple one to me No One Lives Forever 2 is the best fps game I have played EVER. It has great graphics runs smooth as can be even at 1600 res and full AA on and has to be the funniest game I have ever played hands down, even the cut scenes kept me watching. Give that game a try it is truely a fantastic game in every sense.

Er my point was people dont want to pay for poor value for money, but still do want to play, and can pirate quite easily. Dont have to agree, just acknowledge that people do this. I speak to a lot of people on IRC who do download games, half do it with no intention of paying, other half pay only for the games they are still playing a week later (roughtly).

If you check my rig you'll see I dont download games. Anyway, topic is Unreal 2 being short, not piracy which im sure could be a topic into itself - and has been many times.

I tried it with EAX off and had fewer crashes but it's still unplayable for me. I'm just going to wait 'till the retail version hits the shelf and see how it goes. Can't really complain about a warez copy crashing but if the retail version is as buggy I'll take it back for a full refund. I still have NOLF2 to finish anyway.

I'm playing NOLF2 right now also and it is a great game. It has some flaws that I don't like, in that they gave you these stupid optional missions that remind me of optional missions in tony hawk pro skater (collect 3 of this, collect 6 of that).

Great single player games of the past definitely included NOLF1, JK2, and Deus Ex.

Unreal2 having 10 hours of gameplay isn't the problem. The problem is the mindset of gamers these days. They assume a game will have 100 hours of gameplay and when they buy it, they rush through everything possible just so they can get anywhere. With a good 10 hour FPS game like Unreal 2, you can really sit down and take in the whole story. You don't have to rush, you can look around you and take in the scenery and basically just take your time.

I like when people come out with a focused FPS that tells a good story while giving your character the ability to grow and change. Deus Ex and JK2 did this perfectly.

I just saw the review and I actually like what they said. Yeah, it is short, but for working people (like me) that's not necessarily a bad thing. The review (gamespot) said they did not like the "planet landing" cutscenes, for instance, but I do like such extras.

Skace, did you like NOLF2 better than NOLF1? I definitely liked the first better, and am wondering if I am the only one. :)

It should be in stores today (the 4th) or tomorrow.

And I still prefer Unreal1 over U2. I still play the original at least once every couple months.

You must be the only one cause the second was even better then the first and the first sure was good. To me the second has better graphics for me it ran smooth as silk at 1600 res with 4x AA on, talk about a sweet looking game. Also I cant even think of a game to date that made me laugh as hard as NOLF2. Next fps game for me will be Doom3

;)

Actually I quite liked the optional missions. They encouraged exploration(which I do anyway) and also rewarded you with skill points when you completed them.

I liked the first one better too. While the sequel had many improvements (graphics, skill points) I thought the original had a better selection of weapons, a better story, better voice acting and the single player campaign was longer.

Don't get me wrong, NOLF2 is a great game but I feel that NOLF1 was better.

I'm with you RS, all though it has been awhile since I beat NOLF1, I recall it being a lot more 'down to earth' than the sequel. I beat NOLF2 last night and, although I had a lot of fun, I think the game kept getting weirder and weirder as it went on. The hallway robots were annoying as were the super soldiers (although at least super soldiers were killable). I wasn't a big fan of the optional crap, like I stated before. I like to play levels and explore, but I don't like getting the feeling that my characters improvement (skill points) was based on how many office notes I read. Plus I thought you got a lot more chances to abuse the sniper rifle in the first one, which I really enjoyed.

But I gotta admit, NOLF2 had some awesome facial models and voice acting. I recall the first one having nice voice acting, but everything really felt like it fell in place in this one and the cutscenes really felt movie-esque.
