go phils...whats their chance this year. i'm mostly a sixers and eagles fan but i would flip shit if the phils got into the WS this year.

While anything can happen in a 5 or even a 7 game playoff series, the Phils will have to go through the Cubs to get to the WS, and the Cubs have it all this year and are the class of the NL.

If they win their division, which it looks like they might just, they would face the Manny R. and the Dodgers in the first round, and I believe they could take them.

But, as far as going all the way, the Phils are a flawed team. It's just that in the NL East, the Mets have sucked worse.

Still . . .

the mets and phils have matched up pretty evenly statswise this year, except that the phils' bullpen has been holding up alot better, and we have lights out lidge as our closer. I would even dare to say that mets have better starting pitching, but it seems like they can't hold up now either. We split our series' with the cubs this entire season, so it will be interesting to see what happens if we meet them in the playoffs.

Did Howard really have a TRIPLE tonight???? How the hell did he manage that one?

LOL, he just hit yet another one, which, btw, is his fourth this year.

Hahahahaha, spoken like a true Philly sports fan.

We have been through much adversity and we have been . . . disappointed.

Three games left in the season, the Phils up one game on the Mets and the Brewers with the race for the East and the wild card still up in the air.

The Big Dog goes long into a strong win to put the Phils up 3-0 in the first inning against the Nats!

Three run double by Chase in the 2nd. Phils now 6-1.

Big Dog follows with a double, Phils now up 7-1.

Its official. Your boys are NL East champs. Congratulations and have fun watching your guys in the postseason. I guess you play the Dodgers right?

Just watched another thrilling installment of "It's Never Easy in Philadelphia."

Phils ahead by a run in the ninth, Nats had the bases loaded and only one out, when Rollins makes a sliding stop of a ball up the middle, flips from his backside to Chase Utley at second, who completes the game and pennant winning double play to the Big Dog at first.

Here's to the Phighting Philamadelphia Phillies, the Beast of the Beastly Bad NL East!

Edit: Of all things that can and cannot be said about the 2008 Phillies, this one fact stands clear: They suck slightly less than the Mets! 😛

tomorrow's gonna be a challenge. myers vs cc. should be a good game, lets hope myers doesn't get stuff in his head!

Lol, Myers does seem like something of a meathead, doesn't he? Of course, the Phils didn't do him any favors shuttling him between starter and closer and then starter again so early in his career.

I think he would eventually been a pretty damn good closer and that it would have suited his short attention span, gung-ho personality . . . just come in and throw gas for an inning.

However, Ed Wade dropped Brad Lidge in our laps and we needed him back in the rotation. He's certainly capable of going unconscious and throwing a complete game shutout, no doubt. He's also capable of serving up batting practice.

I also wonder just how long CC can keep flinging it on short rest. He's a big boy, but this isn't 1962, when men were men and starters regularly went nine every fourth day. 😉

We shall see.

Went to the game yesterday and going tonight as well. I definitely agree that pitching will be key, will Myers be the good version of himself or will he be out in the 4th inning? Will CC be rested enough?

Went to the game again tonight. Myers looked shakey in the first but got the job done on both sides of the plate actually. His 9 pitch at bat led to Victorino's grand slam. C C see ya. This series isn't over but it is. I have tickets to game 5 but there's no way this is coming back to Philly even though I would love for them to win at home.

lets hope they get it done in 3, and hopefully the cubs/dodgers will drag it out to 5! cheers
'
it musta been great being there for vic's grand slam!

btw, was that their first grand slam this year? i don't remember them hitting one

I don't think it was their first this year but I can't think of when any other's happened off the top of my head. I was sitting down at Harry the K's in left field when he hit it so it came almost right at us but well in front.
