Runs absolutely flawless on my system at 1024 x 768 with no AA or AF, and all medium settings. Although I don't particularly care for the game. I tink HALO is a much better dx9 game.

IMO, the only thing Halo has over it is multiplayer... I am a bit biased after the long wait, though.

Even tho im not shady, I also said I "didn't care for it" why? I just think the whole idea of mercenary soldiers, and experiments on a tropical island to be a little boring. There's just something about games like HALO that captivate you, the single player storyline in HALO was absolutely amazing. I'll never forget how cool the cutscenes were with all the marines. You actually get pulled into that game. Now, as far as graphics go, FarCry is a very new approach, but so was HALO, both have their ups and downs, I just think that FarCry gets a down because it costs an arm and a leg to run it well. You only need a 866 MHz CPU and a nice 64meg video card to run HALO at decent settings. FarCry needs like a 1.6 GHz CPU minimum. and let's face it, you're gonna need a 128MB card just to run it decently. I know I don't speak for everyone, but that's just my take on it. And besides, you and I all know that when HALO 2 comes out for the PC, we're all gonna love it :p And if you don't HAVE YOU SEEN IT YET!?

Yes it runs, but properly? I don't know. I'm still experimenting with different AA/AF/resolution settings. Doesn't seem to be silk-smooth at "high" settings on 1024x768. Maybe I'll try lowering it to Medium and turning off all AA/AF.

One thing's for sure tho, this game is hard!

EDIT - Tabb, what are your in-game settings?

Ooohhh!!! I'm sorry. Have a lollipop... LOL

Ok to get serious. I must let you know that I'm probably one of HALO's biggest fans.
The game for me absolutely ROCKED.
BUT.
Far Cry imo, is the best looking FPS I've seen for a long time. Probably since Unreal showed up. Remember?
It's not only the breathtaking graphics the great atmospherical sound, and the great physics, it's the AI as well. Though I must admit HALO's AI was way better... The story is very good too. Well it's not the most innovative idea but it has a decent one.
Now as far as concerns the fact that it can't run on a rig flawlessly, that's life my friend.
Most of the times, ALL of us complain that there aren't great games to take full advantage of a high end gpu.
Now that a game arrived and did that, you are complaining? Why? Don't forget you are a PC gamer otherwise you can always get a PS2 or a Xbox. I was waiting for this, and my guess is most ppl did. This is a game that distincts PCs from consoles quality.
I'm not saying that I don't care for the ppl that have an older system. And I'm surely not one of those that buy always the latest stuff. But eventually we should be happy that a game like this one arrived. It's evolutionary.

Wish I knew how it runs on my system.... I pre-ordered the damn game and STILL don't have it. Supposedly it shipped on the 22nd..... I am PISSED!

Demo runs OK, I need more ram I think, I get some stuttering right at the beginning of a fight.

1700+ @2.2g
512m corsair ram
9800p running latest omega's
fresh install of XP pro

I think I'm gonna play with hardware profiles and see if I can get some more speed out of my system for gaming. I like eye candy, even on the desktop and I know that hogs some memory.

True, the engine is revolutionary, but keep in mind, the Painkiller engine is also attracting some attention, as well as the future DoomIII engine. I think that between those 3 engines (And I don't include halflife2 because it uses the same Havok physics engine as Painkiller) we will see many many new games spawn from them, and that's a win-win situation for us :p lol and the only thing I think is cool about FarCry is the fact that you can pump the commandos full of bullets and actually see it :D

Far Cry runs like a$$ on my computer, the demo does anyway. I have an A64 3000+/768MB PC 2700/FX5800U 128MB.
It runs like a$$ with no AA/AF, and details on "Very High", at 10X7X32, so I see no "Far Cry" retail in my future.

On the bright side, soldier games bore me, so I don't really care there is no Far Cry in my future, waiting for Doom3 and HL2.

hmmm... well, FarCry is probably alot more like Doom3 (from what i've read regarding d3) than you might think from the demo... it's all about atmosphere in this game.. sounds, music, gfx/lighting, and things that jump at you!

i didn't have alot of hope for the game based on the demo, and didn't really plan on buying it, but after playing a few levels that someone had, my initial opinion was long forgotten, as it was much better (from game balance to sound/graphics), and i was hooked and immediately went out and grabbed a copy from eb on release day.

sure, the story is not all that strong, and the plot twist was.. well.. don't want to give anything away, but the presentation and gameplay for the most part was superb! i thoroughly enjoyed it.

Your card is likely the reason it doesnt run so well.

You dont like soldier games? What do you think Doom3 is? And HL2 to an extent. You arent even a soldier in Farcry.

Up pipes the ATI faithful to chime in,"Wah. If you still had your 9800Pro, you could play Far Cry better!" Meh.

Perhaps I should have been clearer Ackmed. Games where the point is to shoot soldiers bore me. Doom 3 I'll be shooting monsters. HL2 will have monsters. What I've seen in the FarCry demo is army guys. I don't care if I am a soldier in a game, I just don't want something as dull as other soldiers to shoot at. Sort of like, "While I agree bears are dangerous, a game that has bears as the enemy would be dull to me".
