As Hayabusa said, it's not for being pregnant - it's for moral character. Sex outside of marriage = fired.
The other case that the lawyer won: artificial insemination.
Ahh, thanks. I missed that last part. The decision makes sense now.
Just curious would these be enforceable..
Can't date outside your race
Can't own gun
Sorry, Tex has his, ahem, interesting perspectives and I saw you mention civil rights. I wasn't arguing with you.
Others have failed to note that there are competing rights which were addressed by the actual act, not what seems to be believed. Consider it a post to clarify which ought to have been included elsewhere.
Gotcha. Yeah this is him dredging up an earlier issue of a nurse breaking her contract by refusing to get a flu shot. A flu shot which she was contractually supposed to have and which she knew was a condition of the job and had had at least one previous to the incident in question. She refused to have the shot and was fired as a result.
i am sure that neither you nor Hayabusa frown on women who have children "out of wedlock"... you two are too smart for that and i know Hayabusa dislikes authoritarians. As Hayabusa said, it's not for being pregnant - it's for moral character. Sex outside of marriage = fired.
The way I understand it, nothing trumps civil rights. I don't think this falls under civil rights anyways.
In the case of the nurse and the vaccinations, nobody is forcing her to work there.
Just curious would these be enforceable..

Not sure why you would make that jump. Race is a protected class. Gun ownership is a constitutional right. Relating both of those to being unmarried and getting pregnant seems a bit of a stretch
Reminds me of the U.S. Navy policy in the 70's where female officers had to choose between retirement and abortion (taxpayer-funded, obv.). We have come a long way. I am confident these newly-minted faux relibious fervers would disappear sooner or later.
Would any sane person send a pregnant woman into a combat zone? Of course not.
If you embarrass your employer they have every right to fire you.
If a client is opposed to interracial dating, then your employer has every right to fire you.
I'm pretty sure they would give her something to do that does not involve direct (edit) combat (the Navy has boats that need crews to run them you know,...),.. but, that requires someone with a normal mind to think of it.
Allowing pregnant women in the military says you do not see the military as a serious enterprise tasked with defense of the nation, but instead as basically a social club.
Broad generalizations are bad because they are usually untrue. Your employer could be embarrassed by having a minority working for them - that doesn't give them the right to fire that person for being a minority merely because it embarrasses them
Hey, when are you going to link us another made up story to support your overblown fears of people around you??
I find fantasy and fiction entertaining!
How is allowing pregnant women to stay in the military "coming a long way".
