I've run numerous searches on how to do the unlocking procedure and have come up shorts; lots of results, but nothing concrete that is understandable and directly applicable to my case.
Here is the setup:
Athlon XP2000
asus av7266-c mobo

I tried accessing the bios to change the FSB but the option just isn't there. I imagine I might need to unlock the cpu. How would I go about doing this? The last cpu I overclocked was a tbird (connecting L1 bridges). Is it any different with the new core?

Does the a7v support the incrementation of the cpu speed, fsb, and voltages?

Thanks.

Finally found some good information on how to unlock the CPU at tomshardware. Does anyone have any advice about my mobo though??
Also, any recommendations on sites where I can buy all the supplies that toms recommends for the procedure?

I highly recommend this. It's completely reversible, and impossible to do wrong, as long as you pay attention to the pins. Athlon pin mod guide. I've sent quite a few people there, and they all say it works great.

I stumbled upon that link when searching myself...seems like too much work if I'm going to play with different voltage/multiplier settings

Haha, if wrapping and unwrapping wire is too hard for you, it looks like you're going to be running that XP2000 at 1.66ghz, then!:D

A toothpick and conductive paint has the same effect, and is less of a hassle than wrapping wire IMO. Just dab a little at the base of the pins that you want connected. If you want to change it, just rub it off with a clean toothpick and nail polish remover...

Voltage and multipliers can be set in the BIOS. I take it that you have Palomino?
